How to deal when your bestie is a total social butterfly

Having a social butterfly bestie can be great—you get invites to cool parties, she always knows all the gossip and she's super fun to be around. What's not so great? Feeling like the ugly caterpillar that can't get out of her cocoon. Super social buds tend to be a little negligent when it comes to girls who aren't as outgoing, and it can feel like you're constantly being ditched or overlooked for a more exciting convo. You love your friend, but honestly, you cant really take it anymore.

Here's the good news: It doesn't have to be like that. Follow these three steps and you'll be flyin' in no time.

Talk to her

The best way to approach your friend is to be super straightforward and honest (especially if she’s one of your BFFs). Don’t blame her or call her out in a mean way, but def say how her actions make you feel—she might not even be aware of what's going on. If she’s your friend, she'll listen.

Get out

No, we’re not telling you to kick your friend out (we’re not heartless!). But getting out of school or your house and going somewhere just the two of you wouldn’t hurt—bonus points if you leave your phones at home. A long walk, a gym sesh or a pick-up game of your fave sport could give you a chance to talk for real and get you both back to the basics.

Bring a buddy

You don’t want to change your friend's personality—after all, you love her for who she is. But if she asks you to come to a party or group hang and you know she's likely to leave ya, ask if you can bring another one of your pals. This way, if an unintentional ditch happens, you’ve got someone to talk to.
