5 small habits to boost your mood

Audrey Hepburn said it best: "Happy girls are the prettiest."

But in a world where you have a test, an essay, a softball tournament and a babysitting gig all within the same week, it's understandable to feel a little stress (and, maybe, a bit down). All of the busyness can make it a difficult to stay grounded in the positivity. It's not impossible, though! Keep reading for five small habits that are sure to make you smile.

Let the sun in

@dcr_home

A great way to brighten your day is by *literally* brightening your space. Open your curtains or blinds and let that light in! Before you know it, you'll look forward to this sunny ritual.

Feed your plants

@maggieleaflovin

Having a plant in your room is already a mood booster, so taking intentional time to water it and care for it will do you (and your plant) wonders. As you make caring for your plant a habit, you'll love watching it thrive; take a little time every day to pay it a visit. Extra points if you name your plants!

Practice gratitude

@selfcarespotlight

Practicing gratitude often sounds like a daunting, time-consuming task. However, creating daily habits of gratitude will help change your mindset, and, ultimately, make you a more positive person. Any amount is beneficial—make it work for you. Whether you take time to write a lengthy journal entry or reflect on the positive aspects of your day before you fall asleep, you'll train your brain to find the joy in every sitch.

Make tea

@waterandleaves

We're *officially* claiming the tea steeping process as meditation. From boiling the water to selecting the perfect blend, be mindful. Select a mug that makes you smile. And, if you have time, curl up with a good book (or your pet!) and soak up the peaceful moments.

Jam out

Putting on music is an irresistible way to smile. Whether you're being lowkey in the library or giving a full-blown concert in your bedroom, taking the time to listen to a fave song or two (or more—the limit does not exist!) is a fun way to improve your mood. Coincidentally, we have the perfect place to find what playlist you're about to have on repeat.
