5 ways to celebrate August

August is a month of back-to-school shopping, last-minute beach trips and soaking up those final moments of summer. With the first day of school on the horizon, it's easy to lose sight of the time you still have left this summer—so we're to help. Keep reading for five ways to make your August the ultimate last hurrah before school starts.

1. Listen to "august" (duh)

When the air is salty and the door is rusty, that's when you know it's time to enter your "august" era. Cancel your plans and throw "august" in the Spotify queue. And don't forget to use T-Swift's folklore bop as the background track to your August photo dump on IG.

2. Treat yourself to these August-specific foods

August is full of some fun (and flavorful) holidays to celebrate. Here's some of our faves:
1. National Fajita Day (8/18)
2. National Potato Day (8/19)
3. National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day (8/20)
4. National Sponge Cake Day (8/23)
5. National Waffle Day (8/24)

3. Get a back-to-school manicure

No first-day fit is complete without a snazzy set. Whether you book an appointment for you and your bestie at the salon or host a press-on party at home, treat yourself to a day of R&R before the month ends.

4. Send your BFF some love (literally)

@thebuddyhandmades

With the summer coming to a close, you're sure to have a *ton* of heartfelt memories to look back on. Nothing says "I love you" like a handwritten note to your bestie to recap all the best summer moments. Break out your aesthetic Midliners and bullet journaling supplies for the perfect opportunity to get crafty and sentimental all at once.

5. Declutter your space

A new school year is a fresh start in a lot of ways, so why not have your space reflect that? Clear out that junk drawer that's been a catch-all for the past three months and make a pile of last year's school clothes to donate to your local women's and children's shelter. A clutter-free space is key to a stress-free transition into a new season.
