Make the grade

Who knew fall would come so soon? You’re back in school, cruising on autopilot, but your mind’s still in summer mode. Gettin’ yourself to focus on work is wayyy harder than you remember. Well, chica, it’s time to shift gears! But no worries, we’ve got a few tips that’ll have you back in the A-game in no time.

Say Hello to Study Buddies

One thing we realized late in the high school game was just how helpful study groups are. Invite some classmates over for a study sesh a week or two prior to that tough exam. They’ll be able to help you with parts you’re lost on and you’ll be able to teach ‘em a thing or two about what you know. Teaching’s the best way to learn, so don’t hesitate to lend a hand!

Warning: This is a study group, not a hang out with your besties, so choose carefully! The best study groups are people you get along with but who also work hard and won’t distract you from your studies.

Review Every Night

There’s no way you have the time or energy to review every night. Wrong! Give up a few minutes of Facebook time each night just ta read over the notes you took in class that day. It’ll take max 10 minutes and trust us, you’ll be able to remember the material way easier when test time rolls around.

When you’ve got an exam coming up, study a tiny bit each night for the week prior. You’ll be way less stressed and way more prepared. Plus, you’ll actually retain the info after the exam. It’s a win, win…win situation.

Make Flashcards Your BFFs

You’ve probably used flashcards to memorize spelling and vocab words before. But, flashcards are a great way to study for other subjects too. Scribble down some math problems on the front of the flashcard with the answers on the back. Pick random cards for a mini pop quiz to test yourself. A pop quiz that’ll improve your grades? Imagine that!

Take a Break

Studying for hours and hours is way tiring, no? There’s good news: It’s OK to take a short break. If you have no idea what you just read, trying to force it may not help. Take a five-to-15 minute break to grab a snack, get a drink, chat with a friend or fam member and just clear your head. Unwind so that when you sit back down, you can get into the right mindset and breeze through your work. Piece o’ cake!

Be a Neat Freak

It’s easier said than done, but there’s no reason you can’t be at least a li’l organized when it comes to school stuff. Be a clean queen and separate your binder into diff sections for each class. Now, instead of cramming them into your backpack, you can easily put ‘em in the right place. When you’re searching for your homework later that night, you’ll know right where to find it. Add it up, and organization saves you a ton of wasted time.
