Between Besties

I have been friends with this group of people for a long time. When a new girl came, I got pushed to the side and felt left out. That eventually led to a serious depression. I went to see a counselor, and she advised me to reach out and make new friends. I did, and I'm really close with this one new girl.

I feel like I'm in between groups because my old friends say they miss me, and I kind of miss them. But I worried that if I go back, nothing will change and the feelings will come back. On the other hand, I'm close with a few new girls, but I'm not considered past of their group. I don't know what to do because right now I just feel alone. Help me please!

It takes a very strong girl to deal with a battle depression. So props to you for acknowledging your problem and going to a counselor to get help. Your counselor had the right idea when she told you to reach out and meet new people. It's great that you found a new group of girls who are supportive.

Honestly, I don't think going back to the old group of girls is the best idea. Like you said yourself, you feel like they might turn their backs on you again. So why risk it? Sure they miss you, but that doesn't mean it won't happen again. You should be nice to them, but you aren't obligated to do anything more than that.

If you totally love your new group of girls, and you feel like they're better to you than the last group, give it your all! You just fully let go of the last group so now you can put some serious commitment in with these chicks. That will help you get into their “inner circle”. Try throwing a BBQ or movie night with your new girls. But please don't forget to be yourself! The last thing you want is for them to get to know and be friends with a girl who isn't the real you! Good luck!

Love,
Jaime
