A Day in the Life of a GL Intern: Something My Mom And I Actually AGREE On!

MOD MOD MOD!...yep, thaaaat's me!

Hey girlies! My name is Melissa and I'm one of the new interns here at GL. Like any teenager, there are plenty of things my mom and I don’t agree on, but Girls' Life isn’t one of them! When I was younger, GL was the magazine I couldn’t put down...but my mom still approved of. The fashion spreads were super-cute and the advice was amazing. Even as a senior in high school, I still enjoy the magazine and am so glad that my little sister is now a subscriber!

  Lookin' forward to the future

This is only my second week here, but I’m having a blast. Right now I'm still in high school, but am looking to major in Communications next year in college, so GL really is the perfect internship for me! I am lucky enough to do writing for Girlslife.com, and I hope you have enjoyed reading some of my stuff!

  I <3 organizing...

One of my favorite things I’ve done so far is organize the makeup for future issues, and trust me, it’s a lot more exciting than it sounds! I love organizing and I heart makeup, so it was the perfect combination for me.

The Beauty Closet: Organization by...ME!

...the bazillion beauty products!

For three days, I spent the morning unpacking tons of boxes filled with beauty items and organizing them into labeled containers (eyes, lips, face, skin, etc.) so that later, the editors can easily find the type of makeup they are looking for. There were thousands of amazing products, from eye shadow to self tanners. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many different kinds of lip glosses in one place before—I just wanted to take them all home with me! Don’t worry though, I held myself back and you’ll get to check 'em out yourselves in future issues of GL.

Questions and answers

I also get to MOD! Whether you're asking Qs about boys, bodies or parents, it’s great to read your questions and feel like, “Wow, I’ve been there and can totally relate!” I love being able to give you chicas advice based on my personal experiences. The best part is when I get thank-yous on my profile. Knowing that I helped you sort through a problem, no matter how big or small, is so rewarding.
