Hangin' With Zeke and Luther's Adam Hicks

Skater lovers, listen up! Disney XD’s hilarious sitcom Zeke and Luther returns with a spankin’ new season this Monday, March 15.

GL’s assistant editor, Trish McNamara, got a chance to hang with the cuties on the show’s L.A. set (right by the beach!) to find out what they’re really like.

Yesterday, we dished on the adorable Hutch Dano (CLICK HERE to check it out). And today we’re giving ya the scoop on his on-screen bestie, Adam Hicks.

Meet…the real-life Luther. While Zeke is more the brains of all the operations, Luther (played by Adam) is the kind-hearted, easily distracted guy of the gang. But is this 17-year-old as loveable as the TV ginger we’ve come to adore? Um, he’s way funnier and hip in real life.

GL: What’s your favorite thing about Luther?
Adam: There are no limits with him. He’s very zany, very outrageous. A lot of other roles that I’ve acted in have had limits and boundaries as far as where I could take the character and stuff. But they pretty much told me that I could take [Luther] as far as I want to.

Are you similar to him at all?
Luther’s very funny. I can be funny with my friends. I’m always goofing off. But I’m also a little more serious. He’s very outrageous and does things I would never do. Everyone has a little bit of Luther [in them] because he lives in those awkward moments. I feel like a lot of people can relate to him.

OK, so when you’re not filming, what can you be found doing?
When I’m not filming on set, I just like to hang out. Usually, they send me to school or somewhere, so I just like to chill. You can catch me at the crafty area [where the food is]. Ha.

You’re originally from Las Vegas. What’s your favorite thing about your hometown?
It’s 24 hours. The thing about Las Vegas is that it spoils you. You go anywhere else and you’re hungry at like one in the morning or something and everything is closed. I’m used to like bowling at 3 a.m., doing the night bowling. So, yeah.
What’s one thing you’re afraid of right now?
Deep water. Ever since I’ve seen Open Water, never again. I don’t like knowing things are swimming under me, you know what I mean? I like going to the beach, I’ll even go surfing. But as far as like swimming into the ocean, no, I’m cool.

The show is obviously centered around guys, but what’s one thing that totally confuses you about girls?
Girls can be very complicated—especially girls who act different to you [than] in front of their friends. I guess it’s the same with us [guys]. I hear that all the time: “He acts different in front of his friends.” But [girls] do the same thing! It’s like a little war going on.

Then what can a girl do to catch your eye?
She has to make me laugh. And there has to be a little spark. I have to be able to just chill and have a good time because the greatest times are when you’re doing nothing, you know, just sitting and talking.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about your costar, Hutch Dano?
He’s very interested. He reads a lot as far as history and stuff like that. But I think we connect on that vibe. School is school and I don’t like math or any subjects like that, but as soon as I open up the history book, I have that in common with him. We could just go quiet for hours.

Being the history buff you are then, if you could go back in time, which decade would you go back to?
Probably when the Vikings were around, just to check it out.

Be sure to catch Adam and the rest of the gang when Zeke and Luther returns Monday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m.

What’s Zeke and Luther’s skating rival, Kojo, like in real life? Be sure to check back tomorrow for our exclusive interview with Daniel Curtis Lee.
