My Perfect Workout (that you should totally try!)

Yay for running outside! We’ve had a bunch of sunny days and I’ve been making the most of them. Have you been exercising more lately? My new routine is super-energizing, and I’m super-happy to share it.

I listen to music while I’m changing outta work clothes and into shorts—I never thought I’d be this happy to wear sport shorts. The warm weather is going to my head.

Here’s a sneak peak at my current playlist:

This Too Shall Pass, OK GO
Handebars, Flobots
Run, Ben Kweller
Electric Feel, MGMT
Run, Vampire Weekend
Home, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
The Stars of Track and Field, Belle and Sebastian

Once I’m ready, I’ll walk a bit to loosen up. Then, it’s time to jog. It’s still early in the season, so my route is about 3 miles (Hint: If you get tired, just walk).

Post-run, I’ve been doing some strides. Ever tried ’em? Basically, you run faster than normal, without sprinting (but almost). They’re great, because they get your heart going, but it’s not too intense. Try striding for 75-100 yards, five times (don’t forget to rest in between). It feels fab to end my cardio on such a high note. When I get home, I’ll stretch out and do some ab work or lift some light weights.

By the time dinner rolls around, I feel amazing. Share your early spring workouts below—I’d love to know what you girlies are up to!

Healthy hearts,
Katie A.
