Keep Your Hair Extra-Cute By the Pool

Ah, afternoons by the pool. When you’re sipping lemonade, splashing ah-dorable boys and playing Marco Polo, your sweet strands are prob the last thing on your mind. GL’s got some killer tricks to keep those locks lookin’ lovely, even if they are doused in chlorine on the daily.

Go for Hydration
If you know you’ll be spending all day at the pool, prep your hair by washing it the night before or morning of, and comb through leave in conditioner. This will keep your hair from drying out, frizzing or turning green from the chlorine. Don’t bother styling or straightening before you dive in—all that water will undo your work in an instant.

Rinse and Repeat
As soon as you get out of the pool, wash your hair and condition it. You’ll get rid of all the icky chemicals and leave tresses smooth. Avoid the blow-dryer, too. Not only is it hot—it’ll only fry strands even more. Let your hair air dry to achieve a naturally textured look. Use a comb (not a brush) to work through damp strands—otherwise you’ll risk extra damage.

Cover Up
If your ‘do is dyed, using hair SPF is a must. But girlies with natural locks should consider donning a hat, bandana or scarf to prevent their hair from getting scorched.
