Turn Off Those Gadgets to Clear Your Mind!

Constantly texting or checking your email when you have a free sec? Ya might want to think again, girl. A recent article in The New York Times suggested that endless multi-tasking and screen time might interfere with your brain's ability to fully process experiences. That means you may not learn as much as you possibly could and won't necessarily have time to dream up new ideas-eek!

Here are three times we think you should totally power down:

1. At the dinner table
Make a point to strike up convo with your co-diners, not the folks on the other side of your cell. You'll enjoy your meal more and get to truly interact with your family and those around you.

2. On the occasional run or walk
We know it can be brutal to pound the pavement without your iPod. But giving your brain a breather in nature will actually help you learn better. Plus, it's super-relaxing and will feel totally refreshing not to feel tethered.

3. When you have an hour to do nothing
It rarely happens, right? Instead of filling that free time with mindless surfing on the web, go gadgetless for a li'l while. Take a sec to let things unfold IRL. Maybe you'll get into a game of pickup basketball with your neighbors or unearth that beading project you started at camp. See where life takes ya-you never know what you might stumble upon!
