Cool New Ways to Go DIY on Your Mani

OK, we’re a little obsessed with nails at the moment. From crazy texture to matte finishes (over VERY surprising hues, may we add), your mani is about to get a million times more exciting.
The best part? Our tips are all totally doable at home, which means you can get a cool look for practically pennies.

Do the mismatched glitter thing
Whoa. Over on the always-chic blog Cupcakes and Cashmere, Emily crafted a cool purple and red glitter combo. It’s awesome inspiration, and led to a navy and pink confetti mani over here. The point? Invest a couple of bucks in wacky glitter and see what happens.

Give gold ‘n’ black a swirl
We chatted up CND Nail Professional Roxanne Valinoti to learn about some of her fave new nail trends. The one we couldn’t get past? Inky black nails with metallic swirls. Paint your nails (one coat of base, one coat of true-black polish). Let them dry. Then, dip a toothpick in your fave gold polish. Swirl it on each nail, to create a cool “marbleized” effect. Let it dry and then apply top coat.

Opt for wow-worthy metallics
Another one of Roxanne’s fave for fall? A “brushed aluminum look,” which is achieved by swiping on silver nail polish and then finishing it off with a matte top coat. Outta this world, girl.
