Meet Amber Lily

 
A third season of Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing (N.B.T.) kicks off today. Are you excited? The multi-platform feature, which launched the career of Allstar Weekend, is putting the spotlight on five fresh acts this fall, giving them national broadcast and online exposure separately for two weeks at a time.  

Over the next 10 weeks, Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences can snag a look and listen at the talented artists, voting for their faves at RadioDisney.com or by texting “NBT" to DISNEY (347639) (message and data rates may apply so ask for the ’rents permission first).

The highest ranked N.B.T. artist at the end of it all will have the opportunity to have their single released by Disney Music Group and open for Allstar Weekend at a special holiday performance. Amazing!


Which N.B.T. artist is up first? Amber Lily — a 13-year-old pop and R&B singer/songwriter from California—on-air from Sept. 15 - 28. Who exactly is Amber Lily and why does she rock? GL caught up with her to get the dirt. Check it out…
 

GL: What was your first reaction when you found out you were going to be featured on N.B.T.?

Amber: OMG! I was super excited. Everything I've worked for since I was a little has come true. It's been an amazing experience watching it all happen for me.

What is the song featured on N.B.T., “222L8,” about?

“222L8” is about a boy I liked who started flaking on me. He stopped calling and kept "forgetting" about the time we were spending together. I finally forgot about him and decided to have a great time with the girls. By the time he notices I'm gone, its "222L8".

What is the biggest thing you hope listeners take away from your music?

A lot of my music is focused on self-empowerment. As a teen, we learn to make good choices. I hope my music [helps] girls [make] choices that they won’t mind living with.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other teens looking to break into the music industry?

Be true to your style. Stick with what you love and you'll always find yourself in your music.


If you win N.B.T., what’s the first thing you’ll do?

Wow, I think I'm going to scream and do the "happy dance" with my best friend, Alex.
