Maybe Baby
My twin
sister is 13 and pregnant. My parents are fully supportive of her and aren’t
even mad, which makes it seem OK. I think having a baby would be fun. Should I
follow in her footsteps?
Dear Maybe Baby,
A mother at
13? Wow. Babies can be fun, but being a good mom takes tons of work, money and
maturity. Babies don’t sleep through the night for months or use the toilet for
years. Your twin will have to suddenly be very responsible. She’s not just
having a baby – that baby will become a toddler, child and teen. Your parents
might feel it is pointless to be angry, but while she’s changing diapers and
shoveling baby food, you can finish school, run for class prez and go to the
movies with friends. Be a teen before thinking about being a mom. For now, just
be the best aunt ever!
