Beauty Tips We Snagged Straight from Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week may be over (sigh!), but we still have a few more backstage secrets to spill. We’re saving all the super-summery stuff for once the weather warms back up, but right now, it’s all about the spring trends that feel oh-so-autumn! Think: rocker nails, sheer genius shadows and the coolest hair we’ve seen in ages.

Your prettiest hair is more than a li’l messy.
Yep, beach-y locks are back. The diff? This year they’re not gonna be just hanging out. Textured strands are lookin’ fresh pulled back in low, messy knots. To get this party-worthy ’do at home, apply texturizer to damp hair. Then, blow it out with a diffuser.
Use a comb to create a side part. Sweep hair back and twist it into a low bun and secure it with a bungee elastic. The catch? Don’t freak if some hair falls out. That’s what makes this style extra cool.

Pale pink shadow is suddenly school-worthy.
Rosy eyeshadow can be a li’l frightening. But on the spring runways, it was so sweet and totally spot-on. To make this look extra-modern, keep the rest of your face bare and apply just a bit of mascara.

It’s all about the layered nail polish.
Spring manis are often crazy coral or barely there, but we fell for the rocker-inspired nails that kept creeping up on the runways. CND Nail Professional Roxanne Valinoti gave us an ultra-hot combo to try out: black lacquer with a layer of copper topcoat. The result? A custom color that’s anything but meek.

Psst: almost purple puckers are lookin’ pretty.
OK, so this wasn’t from the runways. But all the super-glam girls and celebs we spied at Fashion Week events had their pouts kissed with red-violet lipstick or gloss. Clinique’s classic shade works on everyone (for real!).
