I Can't Stop Sweating

I walk to school every day and no matter what the weather is, when I get to school, I start sweating like a pig. My head and neck get really sweaty and I hate it. Is there anything I can do about it?

Don’t worry--lots of girls (and guys) have this problem, and the hot early fall weather we’re having doesn’t help your cause. If you’re not already using an antiperspirant, that’s the first step. Make sure you’re not slathering it on too heavily (a thin layer will actually work better).

Since you walk to school, the exercise is gonna cause your heart rate to go up, so maybe you should try wearing somethin’ sleeveless when it’s hot out, and just one layer that’s not super-tight when it starts gettin’ a little cooler out (try cotton and other breathable fabrics). Then you can add a cute T-shirt or sweater when you get to school and have cooled down. Also make sure to leave yourself plenty of time so that you don’t have to race to class, causing your heart rate to shoot up even higher and you to feel anxious, which will only make you sweat more.
Anxiety is a major cause of perspiration, so try to chill out. You can also ask your parents about buying one of the “clinical” strength antiperspirants sold along with the rest of the deodorants and antiperspirants at the drug store. It might help to keep some in your locker or backpack to dab on when you get to school.
