Totally True Tales of Terror

We asked, you spilled all. Here are four freaky stories about real-life brushes with the supernatural from GL readers just like you.

This Old House Horrors

My family use to live in this creepy old brick house. Before my sis and I were born, my mom and dad experienced odd things like the shower turning on by itself or the toilet flushing randomly. Once, my mom got some old mail from the woman that had lived there a long time ago. She left the mail on a table and went into the kitchen for something. When she reentered the room, the mail was sitting there open!

Kitchen Capers

My friend was sleeping over at a mutual friend’s house. They were in the living room, which is open to the kitchen. There was nobody else in the room when everything on the kitchen counter flew off. Another day, they heard talking in the basement when they were the only ones in the house. Suddenly, the girl who lived in the house crawled to a corner and sat down, rocking back and forth and whispering to herself. My other friend thought it was a joke, but the next morning, the girl didn't remember a thing.

Tower of Terror

When I was little, I was hanging out at my friend Nick’s house, which is about a hundred years old. There is a tower that leads up to the playroom, and as I walked up the stairs, someone grabbed me and tried to push me. But when I looked around to see who it was, nobody was there. Now Nick’s brother, Alex, often complains about being woken up at night by a sad little girl who wants to play.

What’s in the shower?

My older sister and I were babysitting my neighbor’s 5- and 7-year old boys. When we got there, we went upstairs and shut off the steaming hot shower in the kids’ bathroom, but we thought nothing of it. Around 9 o’clock, we took the boys upstairs to get ready for bed. Once again, we had to shut off the shower, but we just figured the boys were turning it on. But when we asked them to stop, they denied touching or hearing the shower. Finally, they got into bed and my sister went downstairs. The younger boy asked me to stay with him until he fell asleep, so I did.

Since I live in an old house, odd noises usually don’t spook me. Then I noticed that the little boy was staring, trance-like, at the bathroom door. I was totally creeped out! I asked him what he was staring at, but I had to shake him a few times to get him to answer. All he said was “nothing” before shutting his eyes.

I silently slipped out of the room and told my sister everything. She drove me home, ‘cause I was freaking out, and told me later that when she got back, the shower was on again.
