I hate my dimpled chin

I have a “butt-chin,” and I am very self-conscious. My sister makes fun of me for it, and it just makes things worse. I'm always trying to think of ways to smile for a picture without showing my chin, because it’s most visible when I smile.

I'm tired of using stupid poses to hide it. Is there any way to get rid of it? If not, what should I do?

Hey hon, we’ve all got parts of our body we don’t like–even celebrities. Personally, I don’t like my feet because they’re long and narrow. But it’s what you do with what you’ve got that counts.

Keep it real

What you have is a cleft chin, and unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to get rid of the way it looks. It’s all genetics, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Some people have dimples in their cheeks and you happen to have one in your chin. It’s perfectly normal. (Just ask Sandra Bullock!) Instead of fighting it, learn to embrace it. You’ll be much happier this way.

Confidence is key

Have you ever heard the saying, “Fake it until you make it”? Even if you don’t feel 100 percent confident, you can certainly act like it. Wear clothes that are flattering and make you feel pretty. And the number one beauty secret: Smile. Seriously. Everyone will be so dazzled by your pearly whites they won’t even notice your chin.

True beauty lies within

I have a friend who hates her freckles, but I think they’re absolutely gorgeous. The point is, what you may hate, someone else may find attractive. Kindly ask your sister to stop making fun of you. You could ask her how she would feel if you constantly teased her about her looks. Chances are, she wouldn’t like it very much.

Plenty of people judge someone by how they look on the outside, but true friends will love you for the person you are on the inside. You go, girl.

Lots of love,

L’Oreal
