Cute gifts for the hostess with the mostess
Got invited to a soiree?
It’s sweet to tote along a tiny prezzie to show your thanks. Here’s our advice
for picking out oh-so-sweet hostess gifts this year.
Pretty books
Clothbound Penguin Classics, $20, anthropologie.com
Yummy baked goods
Chocolate Chunk Blondie Mix, $11, stonewallkitchen.com
A mini work of art
Jeff Koons Limited Edition Creme de Corps, $27, kiehls.com
Sweet stationery
Snail Mail Stationery, $14, etsy.com
Something extra festive
‘Tis the season, so why not spread the cheer. A holiday ornament, a pretty poinsettia, a cute cookie-cutter, a holiday playlist…the options go on and on. Make sure to find something seasonal that has a story behind it (even simply “I know snowmen are your fave” or “You heart chocolate, so these seemed perfect…”). A little thought goes a long way. Don’t forget to write a thank you note along with it!
Pretty books
Ah, the classics. Lately, some of our fave books have been decked in pretty new
jackets. A cloth book or one with an art-y cover will look extra pretty on
anyone’s shelf.
Yummy baked goods
Something sweet to nibble on is always appreciated. If you’re not super-handy
in the kitchen, try using a mix to make it easier. Or, use a standard
supermarket mix (like a box of brownie mix from the baking aisle) and add in a
bunch of your fave candies. Yum!
A mini work of art
This prezzie pulls double-duty: it’s a totally luxe lotion and all the proceeds
go to benefit the Koons Family Institute, which is part of the International
Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. It’ll brighten up any washroom and
make your hostess smile whenever she sees it.
Sweet stationery
If you know your host hearts writing notes, pick up a pretty set of papers for
her. If you know way in advance, you can even snag something personalized with
her initials.
