Someday - An original poem

Hey girlies! Here’s an original poem written by GL reader Katie T. Thanks for sending it in, Katie! Tell us what ya think in the comments, chicas.

Someday

The world is full of
Darkness
Despair
Fills the empty hearts
Of so many
Frigid tears
Slide from dull eyes
Laughter no longer
Echoes
From the purple mountains
To the melting valleys
Only cries
Ring out
Choking out life
And welcoming in hate
Hate
There is too much
We fight
And battle
We kill
For nothing
We’re so set
On hurting and hating
One another
That we can’t see
The hole
That love once filled
And
Where happiness
Once resided
I long for a day
When we can forgive
And
Forget
When we can welcome in
Sunshine
And release the
Hate
When that day comes
The rain will dry
The clouds disappear
The cries will fade
And
The love will reign
Once more
But that day won’t come
Unless
Things change
I am the change
So I stand from the top
Of the purple mountains
Throw my head back
And laugh
It rings all the way
To the
Melting valleys
The tears run dry
As the warriors pause
The battles stand still
The only sound
Echoing through the
Dark world
Is the sound of light
Happiness runs through my veins
Freedom soars to my fingertips
I smile and watch
As the black sky
Turns to blue
The bickering robins
Silence and listen
I tip back my head
Spread my arms
And let myself fly
Someday

Is today
