Toss aside those sneaks for a good cause

Could you go through a whole day without shoes? That’s what TOMS is asking the global community to do Tuesday, April 5.

Last year, more than 250,000 people kicked off their sneaks for 24 hours in the first annual One Day Without Shoes. The day is meant to raise awareness of those who go barefoot every day. Providing shoes to those who can’t afford them is the key to TOMS Shoes’ mission. The company donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that is purchased.

So what does slipping your shoes off do? It puts you in the footprints of a less-fortunate teen across the world. When you go barefoot on the unsafe roads and contaminated soil of third-world countries, you can contract anything from cuts and bruises to infection and disease.

Tell us, babes, are you going to toss aside your flips for a day?
