Snag Madeline Carroll's style

Attention, ladies! We’ve found the recipe for the perfect summer flick: Funnyman Jim Carrey, six adorable penguins, a film based off of a book you read when you were little and 15-year-old rising star and style icon Madeline Carroll!

Mr. Popper’s Penguins, which hits theaters today, combines all of these elements and then some. Madeline plays Mr. Popper’s daughter, Janie, who isn’t exactly close to her dad. But that’s all about to change when a special delivery of penguins pops in. Our gift to you? Scene-stealing styling tips from Madeline herself. We’ve spotted her on the red carpet a lot lately, so we chatted her up and her spill her biggest secrets.

We’ve noticed you rocking some serious style on the red carpet quite a few times recently. What is your favorite red carpet outfit that you’ve worn so far?
“This little pink dress that I wore it to the AARP awards. It was tight at the top but then it poofed out a lot. It reminded me of cotton candy.”

What are your go-to summer accessories?
“I like flip-flops and gladiator sandals because you can match them with so many different things—dresses, shorts.”

What are the beauty essentials that you always have with you on the red carpet?
“Lip gloss. I think every girl needs lip gloss. It makes you look so nice. I also love BADgal Lash by Benefit. It’s a really good mascara.”

It’s beach season! What’s your biggest bikini confidence tip?
“Make sure you have the right size bikini because if it’s a little too big and it comes off, that’s not good. Also, if you like somebody that you’re with and you’re not confident being in a swimsuit, just try to act yourself because, face it, if a guy only likes a girl for what she looks like in a swimsuit, you shouldn’t really like that guy.”
