3 yoga secrets you gotta know!
We’ve shared countless benefits yoga can provide, from less stress to more flexibility. But we chatted up a yoga pro recently, and were pretty surprised by what she revealed.
You’ll feel better about yourself
“The physical benefits of yoga are a given,” says Erin Jacques, Exhale Spa’s director of yoga. “The key thing it helps girls with is confidence. You build mental strength and learn to trust yourself.”
You’ll fit in
“It’s for everybody,” she continues. “It’s a place that’s non-competitive.” Erin says that yoga can be especially good for shy girls, who might have trouble putting themselves out there.
Start with vinyasa flow
For some girls, yoga doesn’t click right away. They’re not into hanging out on their mat meditating (and, hey, that’s OK). That’s why Erin says newbies should check out a Vinyasa Flow class first. You’ll practice lots of postures, but you move through them in a way that’s sooo-not-boring. She also suggests checking out what your local studio has to offer: there might be a music-based class that appeals to you, yoga for teens or something else cool that catches your eye!
