6 ways to have fun with the fam

Who says QT with Mom and Dad has to be a snooze fest? We’re turning your hang time up a notch with six fabulous ideas to kick family chill-outs up a notch. Stay tuned, babes, ‘cause it’s all part of our 100-plus summer fun marathon!

Be an amateur photographer. Take photos of family members and friends. Capture everything you want to remember, then use fun photo editing programs (like picnick.com) to jazz ‘em up. Don’t forget to make copies!

Pass it on. The summer is a great time to catch up with relatives you rarely see during the school year. Visit grandparents, great aunts, and great uncles. They have the best stories! You could even have a contest (or five!). Have everybody tell their funniest, craziest, scariest stories and vote on the winner of each category. Blue ribbons come with brownies, natch.

Play board games with family members or friends. A little healthy competition never hurt anyone, right? We’re loving old-school games like Monopoly, Life and Sorry!

Build a time capsule with your sibs or cousins. Include old photos, movie stubs, newspaper clippings...anything important to you! Bury it in the backyard…or somebody’s closet, and make a pact to open it together five years from now, or when you all have graduated from high school.

Watch old family videos together. They can be awfully amusing and super sentimental! How on earth did you forget about that crazy dance recital costume?
Get in the kitchen! Making a meal with your sibs or your 'rents can be a blast, especially if you turn it into a competition. Assign everyone a course (appetizer, salad, entree, side dish, dessert) and pick a theme (we're lovin' backyard BBQs this summer). You can pair up, have battling BBQs on alternating weekends or simply sit down to a potluck-style meal. What a great way to end the day!
Talk it out: What’s your favorite way to spend some quality time with your family, babes?
