Our 7 favorite places in the USA

From New Orleans to Detroit to NYC, GL staffers are all over the map when it comes to their numero-uno locales. Take a peek at our favorite haunts (and why we heart them so very much), and then tell us YOUR favorite place.

“This is a toughie, since I have can proudly say I've been to every state after countless family road trips. If I had to pick just one place that's my favorite, it'd be New Orleans. The music, food, architecture and culture are so enchanting.” – Karmen F., online contributing editor

“The North Florida coast. Tiny beach towns that aren’t packed with tourists and tons of history. Just look at Castillo de San Marcos. It was built to protect the continental United States’ oldest city, St. Augustine.” – Brittany T., online editorial assistant

“Washington, D.C., no contest. I love everything about it, from the shops in Georgetown to riding its metro. Last summer I'd eat lunch on the National Mall just in awe of where I was. It's like a second home to me.” – Alyssa B., contributing writer

“I love Aspen, Co., beyond words but I have so much pride in being a girl from Detroit.” – Karen B., founding editor/publisher

“Disney World. It's the happiest place on earth! I've been there for every summer vacation since I was in kindergarten, and I can't imagine going anywhere else.” – Caitlin F., intern

“I love so many places in the USA, from New York to Key West.  At the moment, though, my absolute fave place is the pool in our backyard.  I’m so looking forward to spending my summer there reading, writing, gossiping with friends – and wearing lots of sunscreen, natch!” – Marie H., contributing writer
“I love being in Manhattan. Everything is always bustling, and there’s so much to do! When I’m there, I’m never bored, ever.” – Jessica D., fashion and beauty assistant
