Summer Imperfections - An original poem

Hey chicas! Here’s an original poem written by GL reader Leah D. Tell us what ya think in the comments please!

Summer Imperfections

Sun beats down on my face.
The strong smell of sunscreen
Dances in the calm air,
Mixing with the salt spray of the
ocean waves.
The sand sticks to my damp feet,
Stubbornly,
Under the billowing
beach umbrella.
I walk on to the hot pavement,
Each step like a fire cracker,
And hop on to my bike.
Wind pushes against my face
As I ride, and pedal,
Hard, then harder.
I pass of blur of objects,
Barking dogs
Bright flowers,
Towering houses.
When midafternoon melts into
Evening and darkness falls,
Marshmallows are roasted,
Ooey and gooey.
The night is pitch black,
Covered in a blanket of stars,
Millions
Billions
Trillions.
Fireflies dot the night.
I lay under my
Cool covers,
Relaxed,
From all of summers imperfections.
