In the News: Could gym class boost your grades?

It’s only third period, but you can barely focus on what your teacher is saying. Sound familiar? Fading concentration in the classroom can be a nightmare – you’ll miss instructions, important lessons and even mess up on major tests by making easily avoidable mistakes. The answer to fading concentration? Exercise!

Before you complain about having first period gym, hear this: scientists have concluded that exercising before you take a test bumps your attention levels and helps you focus. Studies have shown that exercise, especially classes with constant moving (like running, walking, skipping, etc.) can boost your concentration and make a major impact on your grade.

So if you have time, try jogging before school, or walking with your chicas during free period. It might seem a bit silly, but when you havta put pencil to paper, you’ll have a clearer mind – and a much better shot at a great score.
