Show some Leap Year love by getting rid of the things ya don't need

Celebrate the year’s extra day this Wednesday by donating your extras to charity. Added bonus? When mom tells ya it’s time to clean your closet—argh, spring cleaning!—you can flash her a grin and tell her it’s already been taken care of. Ready to give your extras a second life? Donate…

Clothes you haven’t worn for a year

If you haven’t worn it in the last 12 months (and it’s clean and in good condition), then it’s time to let someone else try it on for size. Are you really gonna miss that sweater or 10 of your 20 white tees?

The change that’s been rattling around your purse for months

Unless you’re payin’ for cafeteria cookies with change (or frequent parking meters or Laundromats), all that change is just weighing you down. Find a CoinStar machine and add up your dough, then donate it to your favorite charity.

Books you’re not gonna read again

Come on, be honest: How many of the paperbacks stacked on your bookshelf are you gonna reread? We’re betting not that many. Go through your stash and pull out the ones you’re definitely not gonna give a second look. Take them to your local library, an after school program or a homeless shelter.

Toys that are collecting dust

There are tons of kids who would love to hug that teddy bear you aren’t attached to, or play with that Tonka truck you toted around when you were in your tomboy toddler phase. Go through your old things (and  your sibs’, with permission), and donate the ones you can spare to Toys for Tots, a shelter or daycare center.
