Green your school lunch

Every day, we hear about how Mother Nature needs our help to keep Earth healthy. It’s super easy to do small, simple things that really do help—remember, everything adds up! This Earth Day, we’re starting with school lunch. What you eat and how you tote your food can have a major effect on the world we live in.

Get picky

No matter how many options you have in the school caf, it’s usually hard to make a food decision, let alone an eco-friendly one! Instead of ordering up some meatloaf (what’s in that, anyway?!), what they even put in it, check out the grilled cheese or another veg option.

Be stingy

Before you go ahead and grab a pile of napkins for no reason, simply take one. You can easily get up and get more if you need them. This helps take away the wasting of napkins, which you’d surely do if you took a handful.

Sorry, sammie!

If you decide to bring your lunch to school, kick the ham and cheese sandwich to the curb and create your own salad masterpiece. Don’t forget to bring the dressing on the side, or your salad will get super soggy.

Ditch the disposables

When bringing your “brown-bag” lunch to school, leave the brown bag at home. Go out and get a nice re-usable lunch bag. This way you don’t have to be wasteful and throw out a paper bag day after day.

Drink up!

Whether you decide to bring your own lunch to school or buy it from the lunch line, you can save your money and the earth by bringing your own water bottle instead of buying plastic waters from the vending machine. No longer are there just re-usable water bottles made of nasty plastic. Now there are fun designed aluminum water bottles that are totally recyclable. They are free of many harmful toxins that are in plastic, and they’re super sturdy. That’s a plus in our books, babes!
