5 campaign promises we could get on board with

Mom ‘n’ Dad and all your neighbors are standing in line at the polls right about now. Facebook and Twitter are blowing up with “I voted!” sticker pics. And you’re ho-humming your way through the day, waiting for the results to come in. Wile away the hours between now and, oh, 7 p.m. EST by wishing for a few campaign promises we’d really, truly love to see any of the candidates make.

“I will define bullying—and make it a crime.”

Because no child should feel like an outcast at school, at work, at extracurriculars, online—anywhere.

“I support zero tolerance for discrimination of any variety.”

Because it’s about time this nonsense ended. Can’t we all get along?

“I will make school lunches delicious, nutritious and affordable. And no, tomato sauce will not count as a vegetable.”

Because healthy options are essential to keep kids energized throughout the day and for the rest of their lives. And if they aren’t tasty, what’s the point?

“I will make daily physical education a requirement in schools for kindergarten through 12th grade. (And I’ll do what I can to reinstate recess, too.)”

Confession: Gym was never my favorite class. But it did get me moving, and gave me a break from nose-to-the-grindstone schoolwork. Three cheers for that!

“I support the arts and will ensure funding for arts education in public schools and communities across the nation continues.”

Because arts are essential to our culture, and it’s silly to pretend otherwise.

What campaign promise do YOU most want to see a presidential candidate make—and keep?
