WE TRIED IT! Playtex Sport Tampons

playtex200.jpgLeaks are bad...whether you're outing your BFF's crush, hemoraging motor oil from your hoopty, or drooling profusely after a trip to the dentist.

But, here's some good news, ladies: I have found the solution to at least one very common leak!

Drumroll, please...

Enter PLAYTEX SPORT! Possibly the most amazing tampon on the planet. Sure, it may seem silly to get all psyched over a "feminine protection" product. But I love these things, from the preppy pink-and-green box to the positive quotes ("Shake Your Moneymaker" ... "At Least You Can Still Go Swimming" ... What's HIS Excuse?") on the wrappers.

For two months now, these tampons have made my mid-period trips to the gym totally trauma-free! (Well, except for that evil kickboxing teacher.) I can vouch: That "360-degree design" the manufacturer hypes on the box really rocks!

Want the whole scoop? Check out this site for more details, a free sample, and a $2.50 coupon! Plus, enter to win up to $5,000 for you and your school...or write an essay for your chance at a $25k college scholarship!

(See, maybe periods aren't so bad after all!)

xoxo,
jessica b.

p.s. Before you ask...no, this is NOT an ad. But, if the peeps from Playtex happen to read it and send a lifetime supply for my G-Blog girls and me, I won't complain, LOL. =)

WE TRIED IT! Got a product (body, beauty, electronic, etc.) you want us to try before you buy? Let us know!

PERIOD PEACE. Have questions about your period? Got some great femme-protection products to suggest? Just feel like venting about PMS? Leave a comment! We'll be blogging about periods, um, about once a month!

Whatever, dude, if you're so mature go read SEVENTEEN MAGAZINE or something and stop picking on girls who need help. Or just take your comments and shove them somewhere, we don't need to hear that.

Bria, I'm sorry that youre not allowed to wear a purse. That is an injustice. but anyways about your problem:you could carry it in a pocket or a pencil pouch in your binder with, if you need it ,extra undies. make sure its not see through. when you need em stick it in your pocket and go.

Hey girls,
wanna hear an emabarassing moment expierienced by yours truly. O.K. here it goes.

I was at school, in science. I always keep my tampon and a pad in a pocket in my binder, in the same pocket of my calculator. My guy friend asked 2 see my calculator, so I pulled it out and handed it 2 him. When I turned around there sat the guy I can't stand, is really popular, ad says I'm really stupid even though he gets d's in clases and I have all A's, and he unraveling the fabric I had wrapped my tampon in. He's going whats in here, and he almost ahad it completely unwrapped, when I started shaking uncontrollably and almosgt started crying cause I was sooo embarrased,a nd I grabbed the tampon from him, before it had been unwrapped, and put it back in my binder. Then he started pestering me on what it is, and I got really upset, turned around, told him it was nothing, even though he said he would'nt laugh, and almost started crying again, thankfully I ran out of the classroom fats enough. Even worse, the guy I loanned my calculator too, was my crush,a nd I think witnessed the whole thing. I hate periods.

Hey Everyone...
I had my period when I'm 12. It's not like all people are gonna get them around the same time, it's different for everyone, and plus I get really bad cramps and sometimes throw up, so don't feel like you wanna get it so bad...it's painful! I hope all goes well gals..

Posted by: Holly Dolly...I Love Nacho on 1/6/2007 1:48:20 PM

hey ppl, hint for using pads: fold up like 5-8 sheets of toilet paper into a decent size square put it ontop of your pad that way you don't hafta change it as regularly.

sammi,
you remind me of this one book i read in school, its called Uglies and there's a sequal called Pretties maybe if you read them it would help u with your situation

Posted by: idreamoficecream on 1/6/2007 1:50:42 PM

whoa sammie, is that for real!!!!!!!??? i havent read the book the uglies but it sounds so unreal (ur situation i mean) it sounds like a novel. hmmm i dunno wut 2 do.......srry im kinda dead and cant give good advice cuz it is finally saturday!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: melanie on 1/6/2007 2:19:05 PM

Sammi- this is important! Why do your parents want you to get plastic surgery? Health? Or beauty? Here's my opinion on the situation: There are a few things I don't believe in for strong reasons! One- artifical tanning: People should be proud of their skin tone, instead of trying to change it. Two- swear words: Sort of, because when you think about these words house no explicit meaning until select homo sapiens come along and change their meaning. They shouldn't exist! Three- plastic surgery. Definitely! Unless there are health issues involved (such as- and I know this is morbid but it IS an example- your face gets burnt. Well, that could pose some big issues, don't you think?) But, really, your face was formed by God as a work of art and a masterpiece all your own. It is unique to only you, and you should be proud of it. Sure, society today has formed stereotypes about beauty and what a pretty girl should like, and, sure, who doesn't want to be drop-dead gorgeous? But the point is, everyone has special traits- physical and mental- that make them, well, themselves! Think about it this way: Would you have someone come into your brain and change how you think, how you feel, your preferences, etc... No? Then why try to change yourself so drastically on the outside?! I'm not saying that you can't wear makeup, dye your hair, change your clothes; all of this is natural stuff that everyone undergoes, changing their style a bit and mixing things up. Is it simply 'changing your style' by enhancing your proportions and changing normal body parts? Really? I don't think so! And, sure, you may not like the way you look. Not many people do. But you need to learn to be satisfied with how you look! Is it worth undergoing surgery and pain to have different lips and eyes? I don't think so. Do you? What really shocks me is that your parents want you to! A parent's duty is to both nurture their child and to help them feel comfortable in both their mental and physical being! A typical parent discourages any type of plastic surgery. And, no, not many people have "typical" parents, so I can't speak for everyone! Maybe your parents assume you want to undergo this huge change, and in an effort to build up your self-esteem by allowing you to. Your parents are NOT bad people to want this for you, but I think you ought to make your preference known to them. Who knows? They may even be relieved by a refusal! Now, there is the factor of: Do you want to get plastic surgery. If not, I have already given a possible solution. If you do, however, think about a few things first: 1. This is not a thing to be taken lightly. Obviously, looks aren't everything, but as I stated before, every person has a characteristics unigue to them, and changing these characteristics, in a way, no longer make them YOUR characteristics. Is this something you're willing to accept? 2. Plastic surgery is NOT all being in the hospital for a few weeks, getting out, and, voila, you look magnificent. No, no, no, no, no! Things COULD go wrong, you may be dissatisfied, and you have to factor in that most likely, you are going to feel a bit, well... awkward afterwards! What I mean is, a bit self-conscious. Like braces or glasses, you may feel like everyone notices, which they most likely will. So, brace yourself for A LOT of unwanted attention. 3. As already mentioned, um, there is a chance that you may not have exactly 1 inch plumper lips, 2 inch wider eyes, and 6 ft. of height. There may be an outcome you really don't like, and it will be very difficult to fix, not just like a cut or a scrape, or even a cavity. 4. Cost. Well, this mainly affects your parents, but take it into mind! If you want to get plastic surgery, consider all of this first. Still up to it? Whatever your decision, have a talk with your parents and talk about how things may or may not turn out. If I were you, I might even tell a HIHGLY TRUSTED friend and ask for her opinion. Let her be honest without it hurting your feelings. It will be a big change in your life, so think about before you dive in.

*Some people take this from a different perspective. They say, 'Hey, what's the big deal?! It's not like you're totally going to change yourself, just the way you look!' This is true, and if you feel this way, I can't stop you from making your decision. I only want you to think about a few things before you DO make and fulfill your decision.*

Dear GL,

So I got my period once,in November, and haven't gotten it since! Is this normal or what? I just don't know what the heck is going on. Please help me!

smartypants,
chances are you have nothing to worry about- there are tons of girls with irregular periods. that said, if it makes you uneasy you should talk with your mom and/or a doctor and see what they have to say about it! good luck!

hey guys I need some advice. Well heres whats wrong…. I’m very moody. I have my period already and it gets really bad when I have it or going to have it. But lately, I have just been all sad and depressed. It’s not a boy problem but it could be. It might be because I miss my uncle (he’s in Florida because of drugs. But he’s been gone for awhile. It might be because of my family but what could be wrong? I freak out on my friends and family. And sometimes I feel like crying for no reason. What could be wrong? And sometimes I feel like I really do have an angel and devil sitting on my shoulder. Please help!

Posted by: kay on 12/11/2006 11:45:35 PM

uh...i am not really an expert in using tampons, if u know what i mean??? i'll just stick to pads.

Posted by: Bethany marie on 12/12/2006 12:16:51 AM

Hey GL I'm wondering if you guys would be willing to try out the fake nails you get at the nail salon. I do alot of activities that involve my hands (the main one being piano). I'm wondering if it's possible to do these things with the nails on. I've also heard that you have to get them filled every couple weeks to keep them looking good. Is it a waste of money for all the hassle?

Posted by: manda on 12/12/2006 12:29:01 AM

p.s.
KAITEKAT
talk to your doctor about depression. but it could just be our age. My friends and I all have a big problem with depression. And I cry every night (and yes this is a boy problem for me..lets just say ex.) Anyway I think it's just this wonderful age we're in.
KAY
don't worry about it sis. every single girl in the universe gets there period at some point in time. Sometimes its actually better to get out there and do activities (if your into sports). But really don't worry about it. Just check every couple of hours for leaks and you should be SET TO GO!

Posted by: manda on 12/12/2006 12:34:24 AM

I think I'm getting vaginal discharge. Does that mean I'm going to get my period soon? should I wear a pad now?

i hav moody outbursts when i hav my period...
is there anyway 2 prevent that??

Posted by: mariarox on 12/12/2006 1:05:20 AM

I like just got my period this year so im not really an expert on tampons but let me tell u all somtin. Even if u have a light flow NEVER EVER EVER use Carefree Pads or pantiliners. THEY DONT WORK. i was suffering 4ever. I heard if that the best one was Always. I tink im gonna stick to those for now one.

Posted by: dancinqueen on 12/12/2006 7:47:34 AM

Double Jays 7-45- u should totally start marking ur calender right away! if u dont have a calender, buthave an agenda for school, just circle the first day, the heaviest day, and the last day, or put a red slash(/) near the day. then if a guy looks through it, they wont know what the heck ur talkin about (unless they're really smart)

kungfuqueen- my cuz and i are in the same sitch_cept it was my BF and her crush(funny-same guy!but we're cool)

Bethany marie- no offense, but some stff u say is crazy! the whole processed food thing, yeh, read Gl's A/M 2005 issue. it says like a hundred years ago, the usual age 2 get ur period was, like, just over 14! sorry, but there was like no processed food in like, 1905. any way, my dad lets us eat like, zip processed food and i got mine when i was 12!

heygals-2 add 2 ur advice, u could use tampons when u r like taking a shower or somethinmg til u get used 2 them!( believe me it works!)

Kansas Girly- i know it sounds gross, but i have the same prob. it feels like i got my period! but i know its not unless its near the end of the month! but u know what helps? wear pantiliners or put a little baby powder in ur underwear(it dries it up) u can also do this with ur period if u run out of pads and mom cant get u any right away(just make sure u use a pad 2)
$LaGuNaGiRl$- i think u could use a tampon anytime. just ask ur mom what she thinks!

sammi- 8 isnt that wierd. i started the discharge thing at 9 and didnt get my period til i was 12!

americaneagle- no!!!!!!!!

chargecardgirl- i totally agree. the only reason my friend even knows i have it is cuz she asked if i was PMSing( and my cuz kinda screamed about it lol (she was complaining bout the cramps, i was all like, i know! and shes like, u have it 2? and im like, yeh, so she screams, "u could have a baby!" and everyone thought she said i was having a baby! so my friend is like, "Ken (my BF at the time) ur GF is gonna have a baby!" then ppl are like, "whos the dad?"and im like "IM NOT PG!" aaannnnnnnyyyyyyyway ,she totally doesnt know what we're goin through! she laughed at my cuz cuz she had midol in her purse! and she is totally uncomfertable with me when i say, "sorry, im PMSy." or "cramps suck." so i try not 2 but sometimes io cant help it cuz im soooooooo miserable! it sucks!

Emily 2303- dont worry about getting it in class. just put T.P. in ur underwear til u can get a pad from the nurse, or keep some in ur backpack!

I know how you feel. I'm 12 and got my period when i was 10.5 and in grade 5, which was quite a bit b4 everyone else. About keeping track, keep a little list in your room or something, and write down the day of when "Aunt Flo" visits. after that, write down the day of the next time it comes. The distance between the 2 days shows the length of ur cycle. And yea, its a great idea to compare it for 2 months, 'cuz your cycle can vary. I do this and it helps a lot. Hope this helps

Posted by: LittlePrincess on 12/22/2006 6:22:53 PM

anybody have ideas on what to say when you get your period? Well gtg!!
Sylva

Posted by: sylva on 12/12/2006 10:30:44 AM

Kasey, i've been getting a vaginal discharge since april but no period! a vaginal discharge means you'll probably get your period in about 6 months-1 year.

ps. add me to the K list!

Posted by: Kateydid on 12/12/2006 11:54:42 AM

Haha. I always joke about that when i get my period, I'll tell my husband and my kids. LOL. If I'm not in a retirement home already. XD
But seriously, I think maybe getting your period is just a pain. I mean like w/ cramps and pms and dealing with all that stuff. And I could never tell my mom, we aren't close at all.
=( Well yeah. I've got sometime to think about that--I'm 11. x_x
