Pads vs. Tampons

WE TRIED IT! Playtex Sport Tampons

Leaks are bad...whether you're outing your BFF's crush, hemoraging motor oil from your hoopty, or drooling profusely after a trip to the dentist.

But, here's some good news, ladies: I have found the solution to at least one very common leak!

Drumroll, please...

Enter PLAYTEX SPORT! Possibly the most amazing tampon on the planet. Sure, it may seem silly to get all psyched over a "feminine protection" product. But I love these things, from the preppy pink-and-green box to the positive quotes ("Shake Your Moneymaker" ... "At Least You Can Still Go Swimming" ... What's HIS Excuse?") on the wrappers.

For two months now, these tampons have made my mid-period trips to the gym totally trauma-free! (Well, except for that evil kickboxing teacher.) I can vouch: That "360-degree design" the manufacturer hypes on the box really rocks!

xoxo,

jessica b.

p.s. Before you ask...no, this is NOT an ad. But, if the peeps from Playtex happen to read it and send a lifetime supply for my G-Blog girls and me, I won't complain, LOL. =)

WE TRIED IT! Got a product (body, beauty, electronic, etc.) you want us to try before you buy? Let us know!

PERIOD PEACE Got some great femme-protection products to suggest? Just feel like venting about PMS? Leave a comment!

Hey girl, usually you're supposed to change your tampon every four to six hours.

I've always used pads, but they leak all the time, and I'm sick of it. I tied tampons twice and the didn't hurt when I put them in or when I was wearing them, but they hurt like crazy to take out. Do you know why? and how can I stop it?

sarahrocker on 3/5/2010 3:49:12 PM

MOD!! MOD!!!
ok so im going swimming soon and ive never used a tampon before but wat is the best kind to use to stop leakage?? and also i use a maxi super pad so wat kind of tampon should i get???? plz help

fieldhockeylvr18 on 1/21/2010 3:49:36 PM

I get my period for about 9/10 days, I keep running out of pads as the biggest pack I can find is 28 and I don't want to keep asking my parents for money to buy pads. Do you know if they do bigger packs? x

rubberduck96 on 1/14/2010 3:58:39 PM

These are the only tampons I use. They work so well. The wrapper isn't paper so it makes me more comfortable to use at school because opening it is silent.

okay, im due 4 my period either 2mrw or wednesday and i REALLY wna try tampons..ive had my period 4 i think about 2 or 2.5 yrs and ive only used pads...im really active so i think these wud b good 4 me..also, im scared of getting both tss and getting te tampon stuck inside me. during the summer, my mom went 2 the gyno cuz she had a foul odor 4m down there and he said she had a tampon in 4 several days, and that she ws lucky not getting tss...now im even MORE nervous!!!!i kno i hav 2 change is every 2-4 hrs or so depending on the flow, so i ges i am kinda comfy wit it..do u think its okay 4 me 2 wear tampons?also, if i changed the tampon every 2-4 hrs depending on my flow do u think ill b fine?THANKS!!!
***MOD MOD MOD MOD***

Hey babe,

As long as you feel comfortable wearing them and know that they should be changed frequently there is no harm in trying them out. Especially since your mom had a mishap you'll be more prone to be more careful while using them. It's normal to change your tampon every 3 to 5 hours depending on the flow.

My fav brand of pads are Kotex bcause they have a quiet wrapper so they keep my period a secret at school and other places. I also want to try Platex tampons too

bamababe78 on 12/28/2009 11:48:41 AM

I LOVE platex sport!!!
you can barley feel anything!

Hi, so t hanks for featuring htese. i just tried them and I think im a little biti love. but anways, like what are the chances of you getting tss? And if you leave ur tampon in for more hours are you like guranteed to get TSS? Thanks miss mod.

Hey babe, TSS is somewhat rare so no, you're not def going to get it if you leave a tampon in too long but it's best to be safe and change it every 4 hours or as needed.

missballetdancer on 11/26/2009 9:12:36 PM

I LOVE those things! Im a swimmer! The 360 Degree is the BEST; I also dance! So whether I'm kickin it hard in swimming on splittin it hard in dancin' these babies back me up! GO PLAYTEX!

totally_animalz on 11/18/2009 9:48:23 PM

Yes! These are great! I love them. I used them the first time I ever used tampons too! I've had my period for a year and a couple months now, and started using tampons this summer. I was really, really scared at first. But, all you have to do is relax and take a deep breath. It makes my period way easier!!! I don't feel so gross and uncomfortable now!

Love ya!

P.S. Midol is a great thing to make you feel better when your on your period. Especially with mood swings and cramps. And the more you excercise and eat well, the lighter your period is. I dance about 10 hours a week and I feel great and my period is pretty light!

lilballerina13 on 11/18/2009 2:53:15 PM

I definitely agree. These are way better than Tampax pearl. I am a swimmer and i used to used tampax pearl but didnt feel comfortable and felt like i was constantly leaking. eww. now i use playtex and no leaks and totally comfortable.

someswimmer on 11/13/2009 3:20:21 PM

im on the swim team and theses come in handy lol. i absolutly love them!

Every time I have my period I get TERRIBLE cramps, and I mean terrible. One morning I was on the floor immobilized because it hurt to move. I even wear a tampon! I take 2 advils and 2 Midols, but it still hurts. Any solutions?

Hey babe,

A little light exercise like walking or stretching can help or you can try a hot bath.

does it hurt to take a tampon out i mean like will you feel it? also with pads at school and stuff how can you hide them so no one knows about them? because i wan't to keep my period a secret!!!

Hey babe,

You'll feel it but it won't hurt. If you have a pocket that the pad will fit into, it will be easy to keep people from noticing.

i use pads when should i use tampons my period is normal.

MOD*MOD*MOD
i dont get it... i have only had my period once and i think im getting it again tomarow, and i've been trying to use a tampon but i havent go it in yet. i was reading the directions and what i dont get is how far you have to stick the applicator in. and also when is the best time to use a tampon?
THANKS!!

Hey babe, don't use a tampon unless you have your period at the time. A lot of girls have trouble at first, so if after reading the directions and trying it a couple times and it still doesn't work, consider asking your mom, older sis or close friend for some help. If you still aren't comfortable with it, stick with pads and try again later.

Hey mod,
I understand that you shouldn't wear a tampon for more then 8 hours, but what if you put one in but you think your period is done (just so you're not caught off gaurd) and you're pretty sure you won't let any blood out is it okay to keep the tampon in for longer?

Hey girl! No, its best to only leave one in for 8 hours

MOD! im scared to wear a tampon yepp i said it please help me mod tell me about them and i know u can put it in wrong then hurt to take out should i just doit during my next period Please help just explain everything to me pleeeeaaassseee thanks much!

Hey girl!  If you put a tampon in and try to take it out when you don't have your period, it can hurt a bit.  Just try when you have your next period.  It's scary, but just relax.  It's so much easier that way!  Follow the directions on the box, and do not tense up!  If you get it in far enough, you should feel a thing once it's in.  Best, Kristen

i have a new bf but idk how 2 tell my fam about it.
what should i do????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! Congrats! I would start by talking to Mom first about how much you like this new guy and how great he is. Then eventually let her know that you're boyfriend and girlfriend. Parents want to know a little bit about a guy before he becomes your bf
