Hi. I don’t know but I need some help. I have liked this guy for years and last month, he asked me out at a dance so now we’re a couple. The thing is, he is really shy around girls and doesn’t like to talk a lot to me and I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to make him feel like he can say or do whatever around me. How can I make him more outgoing or more comfortable becuz I am also having a party this Friday and he is coming and idk what to do!!! Help!!!

Wow! Sounds like this guy used up all his courage when he asked you out…time to break him out of his shell! Try going out on group dates or hanging out with friends instead of one-on-one alone time. With other people around he might be more apt to let his voice be heard. Instead of going to dinner or a movie, go mini-golfing, bowling, or tubing down a river…anything fun where you guys can be goofy. He’ll probably be a lot more comfortable talking if everyone else is being loud and crazy too. When you’re having convo with him, be sure to ask him questions that can’t be answered in one word. For example, instead of asking, “I’m so psyched for the new Harry Potter book, are you?” try “I’m so siked for the new Harry Potter book, what do you think is going to happen?” It might take a little work to make him relax around you, but the end result will be worth the effort

I had this same problem! He would never talk to me at school, but we did talk almost every night on the phone. This is what I did: I figured out what his hobbies were (like his was football). So I assked him questions about it and asked if he could teach me how to throw a football. Let me say he was totally impressed of my sudden interest and that really broke the ice! After that we actually started acting more like a couple than ever!

Leave your hand out on an arm rest or someplace pretty obvious between you two. Put it very close to his when you two are walking side-by-side. And if he still doesn't go for it, brush his hand once in a while, in a way that could be an accident. That should encourage him to go for it, but if not, feel free to do it yourself!

Robin -
There's this guy named Cameron. He had a pool party on the day after the last day of school and didn't invite me but instead invited my bossy BFFs. He used to liek one of them and I'm afraid she forced him into the party. I talk to Cmaeron all the time about how sometimes my BFFs get on our nerves. I not really upset that I wasn't invited to his party because we're not super close - but I have a huge crush on him. Any gap-bridging ideas? I'm shy, and (even thoguh I hate admitting it) insecure. I can't really talk to the BFFs that went to his party - cause' it's always awkward and they're trying to outdo me.

Well, the more you chat with him, the closer you will become. It's great that you have your one go-to topic with him, so maybe next time you are talking about your BFFs, you could bring up something else during the convo (like a sport he's into or some movie you both saw). That will help set a precedent that it's OK to chat about anything. And then whenever you want to you can go up to him and ask him how his weekend went or anything like that. Good luck, girlie!

modder! im sad, rlly depressed. I miss everything since im in freaking england for the summer. Im miserable and so many times im left alone. My sisters and I arnt very close and there is so much bad things going on but at same time good things. Camp is the most amazing place ever. It literally changes your life. seriously. you make new friends, and learn songs, and it changes everything. it changes your out-look on life. especially if your counselor is OJ. she makes it the best.

Andie~ i just got an email from her and she said she will take at least part of the summers off to come to camp while she is in kentucky. and now i am happy.

this is what i will be at camp in the next few years. CIT means counselor in training and C means camper and CC means counselor:

i am still sad about leaving camp and OJ and i still miss her a lot. but she told me that if it was okay with my dad, we could go to the movies or something. i was happy. but now i am sad again because she is staying here in Washington for college for 4 years then she is going to Kentucky for college for a while. that makes me sad because i dont know if she is going to be coming to camp while she is in kentucky. i dont know if she is going to take summers off or not. but by then, i will be a counselor. and i will get to see her for 4 years still.

I think you sort of answered your own dilemma about OJ going to college in Kentucky... It's still 4 years away, and a lot can happen in 4 years. Her plans could change, you could move, you could end up going to a different camp... any number of things. So don't worry about it now, because everything could change anyway. Just keep in touch with her, see her each time you go to camp, and worry about 4 years from now in 4 years.

It's probably not your tonsils. I think you just overworked your voice. No remedy will work right away; getting your voice back usually takes a day or two. If you're really worried, though, you could go to the doctor.

She probably won't make you take it off. If she does, though, there's not anything you can do about it. Since your bracelet isn't necessary (like a bracelet that identifies the wearer as having a disease or other special condition), you can't make them let you wear it.

hey I need some advice, I sing in a lot of productions around The east coast and I'm very new at this. I have to be the lead role on a musical coming up and my voice is gone. I've been over working it every single night. How do I get it back!?!?!?!

Andie~ i miss her so much. and i miss my other camp friends too. i feel so alone without them. the 10 days at camp with them was wonderful. but i miss them too much. is it okay that i am complaining to you? i am just so sad. also, is there a way to make myself like a rock? i mean, like, not so emotional. i cry about everything. like right now, i miss OJ (my counselor) so much that i am crying. and also, she made me a bracelet for my birthday that i promised to never take off no matter what. but in p.e. at school we have to take off all jewlrey. what can i do to persuade my p.e. teacher to not make my take it off? i really and never going to take it off, never. it is my only memory of her until next summer. ~Jesse

It's fine. If there is a way to make yourself less emotional, I'm not the person to ask. I'm very emotional. If your bracelet is string or yarn, your teacher probably won't make you take it off. If they say you need to, there's probably not any way to convince him/her otherwise.

First of all, try not to make him feel uncomfortable. You've got the guy you like, so be careful not to lose him! If you see that he may be overwhelmed about your party or meeting so many people, try not to introduce him to too many people, or else he'll probably feel super-duper weirdish and awkward. If you make him feel comfortable around you, there is a very good chance that he'll open up and "unleash" a whole different personality. Good luck! ;)

Andie~ do you think 18 year olds are a responsible driver? that is how old my counselor is and i was just wondering if we could go to a movie together or something. but how can i get it past my dad? i dont think he would want me to since shes only 18. and i would take my other friend from camp too, so my dad wont feel as uncomfortable. but what can i do? ~Jesse

18-year-olds can be responsible drivers. It really depends on the individual person. Just explain to your dad that your counselor is a very responsible person; she can explain to him how long she's had her license or what her track record is, if necessary. If he says no, though, you need to follow his rules.

Andie~ whenever i get upset or sad or anxious or excited i cant eat. and when i do eat, i feel sick. and since i was sad to leave OJ (my counselor) and to leave camp and my friends that i didnt eat hardley anything for breakfast or lunch. and im still not hungry. is this bad? ~Jesse

It's not good. Try to get down something plain, at least a little bit. You need to be eating to stay healthy.

Andie~ Well, i know i can live without her, but she is the person i turn to when i feel upset or sad or feel like i have no friends. and i cant do that. i can write her letters while she is at camp all summer, and during the school year. but i still want to see her. i am still crying and i cant stop. i miss her to much. you dont know how much ive been through and shes always been there for me. but now she cant be since i cant talk to her, besides letters. ~Jesse

Hey, girl! Welcome back from camp! If you have any contact info. for her, you can keep in touch talking and so on. You can survive until you see her next summer; it just seems like you can't right now. If you don't have any way to contact her, try writing letters to her (even though you won't be able to give them to her). Then, you could give them to her next summer, if you want.
