I know it’s a little dumb to admit it, but I am scared to go on planes. For spring break we are going across the country on a 7-hour plane ride! I’m so scared. Can u give me a little advice to pass time?-HubbaHey there hon,A fear of flying is completely normal. Probably the best way to keep your mind off of your fear is to forget about it. Seven hours is ideal for a nice, long nap. Slip in your headphones, pump up the volume and enjoy your nap! When I have a long flight ahead of me, I pack a couple of magazines and some good books to get me through it. If you get really into your book, you’ll be landing before you know it! The most important thing is to remain calm and relaxed. You’re in good hands—the pilot is a professional. If you need anything else to make you feel comfortable, such as a pillow or a blanket, feel free to ask a flight attendant.Lots of love,L’Oreal

I think a fear of planes is completely normal, bc your in a metale tude in the sky... yeah, scary... I have a fear of school uniforms, I mean, seriously, I'm freakin' scared to plaid uniforms, or any other type of school uniform. i mean, I'm fine with sport team uniforms, but school uniforms make me want to be sick in the corner and hug my knees to my chest... it's so weird!!!!

take off and landing are the worst parts. your will be fine don't worry so much. i have been flying for years. personally i think that it is a lot of fun. for take off and landing, just think of it as a roller coaster ride. have fun on your trip.

I've been on a plane a bazillion times and i agree it IS kinda freaky, but im more freaked out of terrorists then I am of something happening to the plane, and what are the odds of that happening? I've been on a plane that's lasted 7+hours 8times and by the end of the summer 10 one of the flights was 10 hours long! I try to think of it as an adventure though

*****MOD***** Hey! Is it Ashley or Laura modding? Thanks so much! ♥
Hey! It's Laura : )

******MOD****** Hey! Ik I asked you before about what I should do for my mom's b-day (if you don't remember, try to bare with me - lol). Do you think I would be able to create an entire scrapbook (the littler size) by Wednesday (her b-day)? Cuz I want to, but it's SOOOO much work & I don't have much time! But I wanna make her a fab present. Any ideas? (I don't really just wanna make a plain collage since she already has one...) Thanks! ♥
Hey! I think it's totally do-able! Try hitting up a craft store like Michael's. They have pre-ready scrapbooks that you can fill with memories and pictures and whatever else. It may save you some time.
actress1 on 4/21/2008 12:10:21 PM
this is a serious statistic, donkeys kill more people every year than airplanes, but heres some tips * Take an aisle seat, sometimes looking out the window doesn't make it any better *When the flight attendant comes around ask for just water sometimes that OJ you just drank feels a little sickly *And finally, try to enjoy it, bring some tunes, a good read, or watch the movie, play cards with a family member, draw, play a game, or read the latest copy of GL! Hope this helps
londongirl12 on 4/21/2008 12:18:07 PM
the longest flight ive been on was like a 22 hour to hong kong
londongirl12 on 4/21/2008 12:19:36 PM
******MOD***** Hey (again)! That's a good idea... but I don't have the money! I do have a scrapbook already (not already made, thou), paper, stickers, etc. Do you still think I'd be able to finish? If I give it to her like a day or two late do you think she would mind (I'll try my best to finish it...)? Thanks for all your great advice! :] ♥
Oh absolutely! Especially because Scrapbooking is totally fun! You'll get so into it and it'll take you no time!
actress1 on 4/21/2008 12:22:51 PM
******MOD****** Yeah, I've made like 4 scrapbooks before, so I should be a pro at it! ;) lol - Hopefully she'll like it & has an awesome day! And btw... GUESS WHAT?!? I asked my mom if I could get a pet (as long as it wasn't a dog/cat since my mom's allergic to them) & she said YES!!! So I'm getting a dwarf bunny & I can't wait! :] I still gotta think of a cute name, hmmm.... Well I'll ttyl & have a great night! Byee! ♥

^_^ ive flied...... once........... when i was a baby ;)
puzzlepeace on 4/21/2008 12:59:22 PM
Hey I've flied twice, to florida and back It was also my first time and I was scared. I took things to keep my mind off of it. And take off and landing aren't even scary. Don't let what people say scare you. Make sure you chew gum when you take off so your ears don't plug. Bring stuff that will distract you like a book, magazines, your iPod or other music device. Stuff like that!! Have a good trip!
hellokittyroxdotcom on 4/21/2008 1:17:39 PM
hey i love flying, i seriously adore it, i love roller coasters, they're kinda similar.... on take-off and landing anyway. ok, to relax at take-off and landing, you should breath deeply, but don't make too big of a deal about it. if you're clawing at your arm rests and gritting your teeth you'll either be even tenser and it'll be harder to get over it or you'll see how it was fine and then you'll be embarrassed. you should also bring your ipod or whatever and magazines to read and even though it sounds really little kiddish, a coloring book... or at least paper and colored pencils. i know im always way too distracted to actually read a real book and understand it. sometimes it's just better to stick with simple pleasures!

MOD--- I have these 3 idiot guys in my art class that don't care about art, but that's not my point. They sit next to me because we have assigned seats. Whenever we're supposed to be working on something, they'll sometimes make really inappropriate jokes. These jokes are often racist, and sometimes make fun of people who are mentally retarded, especially people with Down's Syndrome. This is really hurtful to me not only because it is so inappropriate to joke about such things, but because my uncle has Down's Syndrome. What should I do?
Hey girl,It is SO right of you to be upset by this. I would definitely talk your school's Guidance Counselor. I'm sure that other people around you have heard them talk about this and if you report it, most likely, you can remain anonymous. But, it's definitely upsetting for you (and rightfully so) and definitely shouldn't be going on in the classroom or anywhere else for that matter. Talk to someone as soon as you can.

oh my gosh! i am so scared to fly too. its the thought that a terrorist could blow us up and i would die at any minute that terrifies me. so i guess i am scared to die, or rather that i am scared to leave loved ones behind.
blondie_cutie_smartie on 4/21/2008 3:10:45 PM
MOD--- I can remain anonymous, but should I state their names? Or keep the anonymous, or...? I've never had to deal with this sort of situation before. ;(
kitty_writer77 on 4/21/2008 3:13:38 PM
**MOD** I kinda have the same problem, but with a new twist... Over the summer me and my family are going to disney world. Even though its only a 2 hour ride, i have never been in a airplane before. My twist is that i get really scared of places that i feel like i can't escape. Like elevators for instance. I think i might even have a mild form of Cleithrophobia or Cleisiophobia (Fear of being locked in an enclosed place) and last time i went in an elevator i felt like i was goin 2 throw up. So im scared that i will feel like im trapped in a air plain because there is no escaping. P.S. i can't talk to my mom about this because she dosent really see my fear a big problem. What should i do???
Hey girl, i think you mean Claustrophobia (hehe). If these problems are so difficult that you are having a difficult time functioning in life, get into a doctor, they can help with ways to handle your stress. Dont let the problem get so out of hand that it decreases your quality of life.

|\":mod:"/| i neeed help are you busy???
Hi sweetie, post it and I will try to get to it
hollisterchick on 4/21/2008 3:17:01 PM
MOD--- Sorry; I should have put this and my last two comments all in one comment; but we're at the end of the table farthest away from the teacher's desk and I don't think anyone else has heard. Also, my school guidance counselor(s) is no help; she yells at people more than gives them soothing advice. So should I tell my art teacher?
I would tell whichever school official your most comfortable telling. And if you don't want to state the names, maybe you could just have someone address your class.

♥m.e.r.i.l.u.♥ - I was afraid of planes once too. I probably still am afraid of takeoff and landing, but I haven't been on a plane in years. Probably not since I was nine (I'm 13 now). Here's what I remember doing to forget about fright. 1) Keep yourself occupied. Bring a music player with your favorite songs, get some good books and mags, and bring anything else you like to do. Fun stuff will pass the time. 2) DON'T sit by a window. An aisle-seat would probably best unless you want to be near someone close in case you get scared. You could be right in middle of your mom and dad if you needed to. A window seat won't help fright though, especially if you are afraid of heights too. 3) For landing and takeoff, to keep your ears from hurting try getting disposable plastic ear plugs. Then keep swallowing. Idk how this helps but I've gone on a plane when I was three. I cried, but it still helped. Also try chewing gum. Don't swallow your gum though! (Didja know that gum only stays in your stomach for about three days if you swallow it, unlike what some people say about it taking seven years to digest! My brother taught me this) Good luck on your trip and I hope you have fun! ~Aly

kitty_writer77- I am so sorry to hear about how this is all making you feel. Really sorry about your uncle, too. Do whatever you are comfortable with and I hope they get somehow punished or stopped. That shouldn't be accepted in school, or ANYWHERE. Those racist and prejudice comments should be stopped! Hope things work out! ~Aly
