CHEAP 'N' CHIC: Nail the perfect at-home pedi for under $20!

Wanna give yourself a pretty pedicure but don't have a ton of money or time to go to a salon? GL's got ya covered with our super-cheap picks and easy DIY tips!

First, soak your feet for 5-10 minutes in warm water to get 'em prepped and soften dry, rough or flaky patches. You can even do it while you’re reading or doing your homework!

We like Freeman Bare Foot Softening Foot Soak. It's only $4, drugstore.com.

As your feet are soakin', go ahead and get your tools ready.

GL loves Ms. Pedicure 101 Kit 'cuz it's got 9 tools for just $5 (drugstore.com)!

Once your feet are nice and smooth, use the pedicure kit's brush to scrub under your nails, cuticles and between your toes. When that's super-clean use the coarser side of the 2-sided wand to rub away any flaky, rough skin.

Pat feet dry with a towel. Say buh-bye to any overgrown cuticles by (gently!) pushin' 'em back with the kit's cuticle sticks. Slather on your fave lotion and let it soak in for a few.

Next, shape up those toenails with an emery board. Stick with a rounded or square shape. Separate your toes with the pedi separators (or tissues!) to make sure you don't smudge the polish when you paint!

Now you're all set to polish! Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamond Shine Base and Top Coat works before and after ya polish, so you don’t have to break the bank for 2 bottles of paint. ($5, cvs.com)

Most Sephora nail polish is $4, plus it comes in small bottles that dry out quickly. Also, the nail polish itself chips off very, very quickly.

heyy you guys! this is what i do for pedis and my toes look ermazing!
Sometimes ill soak my feet if i want to but i usually dont. soo if you wanna heres a homemade way that wont irrate your feet:
fill a bucket or something that can hold water with warm water. add a little olive oil. and voila. the olive oil mosturizers your feet leaving them silky soft. then rub a thick lotion all over your feet. take a q-tip and dip it nail polish remover. wipe it on all of you toenails to get them free from lotion.
Take the color of you choice and paint your toes. you can use the q-tip with nail polish remover to remove the excess.
then use a top coat ( i loveee sally hansens...available at any drugstore). if you have any chips paint over the whole nail with the color and add another topcoat. wait for it to dry and there you go GORGEOUS toenails!!

You could get some cuticle clippers, or if you get a manicure they'll take care of it for you! Some places are as cheap as $8 if you get a manicure with just plain polish! <3 Jaime

I have this toe nail that was all cut up, so I cut it, but I cut it too short. It looks gross and it hurts really bad when I walk or put pressure on it! I can't wear sandals because it's so gross! What can I do to make it look ok while I wait for it to grow out, and I'm NOT gettign fake toe nails!
P.S. Sorry if I grossed you out!

Hey girl, unfortunately you just have to let it grow out. You can't really cover it up. If the pain gets really bad ask your parents to take you to a doc! <3 Jaime

mod, i have a problem. My bff thinks her half brother isn't her brother at all! She was telling me how his eyes can't be brown since neither of his parents have brown eyes. But i did some research and I think she's wrong. How do I tell her?

Explain to her how genes work...just because his parents eyes aren't brown definitely doesn't mean they aren't related. We all carry all the materials to make babies with different kinds of eyes, hair and personalities...just certain ones have higher probablities of being selected. A brown haired mother and a blond haired father can easily have a red-headed child...or brunette or blonde. It's what makes us all special.

mod how can i make money besides babysitting? the people i used to babysit for hired a full time nanny. no one else in my neighborhood needs a babysitter, and my parents will only let me sitt in the neighborhood. i cant have an alowence because my parents cant afford it. what should i do?

The weather's starting to warm up...why don't you try organizing a yard sale for your family or even neighborhood? If you take responsibility for it...price tagging all the items, advertising, putting up signs, etc, I bet your parents would let you keep a good portion of what you make!

MOD:: well i read that washing your hair everyother day is better for ur hair, because washing every day strips your hair of its natural oils. but if i dont wash my hair every day it doesnt smell good. it doesnt smell bad but it does smell really good like my shampoo. soo any suggestions to not strip my hair of its oils but to keep it smelling really good?

You're right...it is better for your hair not to wash it everyday. Try finding a scented, light hairspray or leave-in conditioner that you could use the second day.

Q-Tgurl5678- Well, you could double your chores, find a baby sitting job, help an elderly person with groceries and hope to get paid! Um, theres lots of stuff out there, just keep your eyes open!
And for your nails, file them everyday, do not bite them, cut them one a week so they don't get too long, but if you want them a little long, then don't cut them every week but do file them. And wash
underneith your nails to keep them clean. And when your shampoo your hair, use your nails to rub it, it helps your sculp and your finger nails to be clean! Hope i helped! \

I am sorry to bother you, but I really need help. I am 11. I have had anorexia for 11 months. I am currently badly depressed. I'm in the hospital with an IV in my arm right now, but some how I am managing to type. . I have been inpatient before, came out of partial hospitilzation early, relapsed and here I am. Tomorrow I'm going to a different inpatient and I am soo sad. I hate inpatient!! I hate being away from my mom and dad! I really don't know how I can go through that again! It will only until I can get to a PHP (partial hospitilization) which means a day program. How can I do it? AGAIN?

Your 11 and have had anorexia for 11 months!!!! :0 That's just sad! How skinny r u? I know you probably don't care and don't want to here this, but you probably have anorexia because you wanted to be skinny,right, but too too skinny is gross unless it's natural. Just remember that your friends and family will always love no matter how skinny you are. I hope you know all the stuff you are missing just to get the "perfect body" I really hope you feel better. And when you're out of the hospital, try to do some sports so you can get more musul and be healthier. You'll feel better than you do now, I can grantee that! I hope you get better! In on of the mags there was an article about anorexia, maybe you could read that while you're in the hospital. Really, don't sarve yourself, it's bad, and bad for you. About the depression, I just hope you do well on that too. Luv ya!♥

Hmm... Why don't you turn up the flirt a tiny bit and see how he reacts to it. The thing about BGFs is that they might get scared away easily when friend is becoming something more. Just play it cool and see how he reacts to a few extra phone calls, or a wave from across the hall.

Well with makeup, you go about it to make it look like you're not wearing any. You want to look as natural as possible. Keep eyeliner thin, use an eyelash curler and some mascara, and keep eye shadows to a neutral hue. Just a little bronzer or blush is necessary. With clothes, just wear what you feel comfortable in. If you question yourself before you leave your house, that's your mind telling you to cover it up a little more.
