Week 19: Snacking Smart
Snacking comes in handy for staving off hunger pangs before lunch and avoiding thirds at dinner. Just see that an occasional healthful treat doesn’t turn into a nosh fest. Keep reaching for string cheese, nuts and fruit, and fend off the urge to down brownies. A mix of protein and carbs (like yogurt and oat bran with a li’l honey, or an apple with PB) keeps you full longer than a bag of gummy bears.

I hope that one of the weeks is about shool lunches and how to eat healthhy because it is really hard to pack gormet healthy meals. Does anyone have any tips?

@ Newborn_Vampire: I understand what you mean. I have a hard time resisting chocolate, mainly M&Ms and Nestle Semi-sweet Morsels, and it totally doesn't help when they're lying around the house. Ask your parents to buy healthier snack foods (Nature Valley Granola Bars are amazing, and they come in a bunch of healthy flavours, like oats and honey :p~). If you're in need of something sweet, eat fruit. The sucrose (sugar) in fruits helps to curve the cravings, believe me. I tried Edamame today, and it is amazingly addictive, like chips. XP I never knew soybeans would be so delicious! Thanks, GL, for the article on them!

I heart celery w/ peanut butter, sun chips, granola bars, and strawberries! They're all really good for you! I also luvv those 100 calorie packs.

Eating healthy is sooooo totally hard 4 me! i have a problem with reaching for chips every time i'm hungry!

im more a fruit type of person. i also like soy joys. (mostly the apple flavor) and i dont like soy that much!

i actually like apples and cheese but i cantt eat apples with braces any ideas for more snacks ive started baking junk food and eating all of it!!

I love an apple or orange when I'm feel hungry. I'm more of a fresh fruit snackie lover. I love veggies, but not as a snack. oh oh, and on summer days, I love living off of fresh strawberries and Watermelons! Mmmm!

I drink green tea! It makes me not eat fattening foods (which i don't eat anyway) and it fills me up until dinner..
