Hey Smart’n’Sassy,A gynecologist is a doctor who specializes in women’s health and hygiene. Your gynecologist can be a man or a woman and it doesn’t matter, as long as he/she makes you feel comfortable. All women should visit a gynecologist at least once a year to check their reproductive health. It is also a good idea for teen girls to visit a gynecologist once you begin to have regular periods.If you experience really bad cramps every month or if you’re period is very irregular, you should definitely visit a gynecologist. I think i have a vaginal infection but im afraid 2 go 2 the gynecologist cuz she'll have 2 take a swab from 'down there'.
If you think you have an infection, go. Those things can leave to even worse problems which you potentially leave permanent damage. I know its awkward but once you get your period and become sexually active, you will have to start doing twice a year. xoxo JANA

heyyyy. thats the doctor that checks if you have stds after unprotected sex... and they can give you an EP without your parents knowing it.... and if you ask some mite even give u a free condom! my friend goes to one of those. i dont tho but i should start.

MOD!!!!!!! Idk if i have my period or not. I got it about 2 years ago but i only had it about 2 times after that and that was only a couple dots of blood for 1 day. What is wrong??
The duration and strength pf your period differs from person to person. I started light and then mine got heavier as I got older. I wouldnt worry for now but maybe bring it up at your next check up xoxo Jana

Your breasts are made out of tissues and glands, they will hurt if you push on them. Sometimes they can tender if you are about to start your period

---MOD?--- i know how periods can be irregular but like, i had my 1st one during the night. it usually happens at night when i start it, but will it always come during the pm? or can it be different times?

um well my breasts are really small in fact their pointy and i'm really self contious about it. People don't make fun of me but i don't like being small and pointy compared to everyone else. I am really skinny though could that be my problem. please help! do u have any tips or advice?

MOD~ i have a question im 14 and have had my period for 2 years and it's been regular for 1 and now i haven't had it since december! and that's not normal for me! i am 5'9" and 104lbs if that makes a difference. i have messed around with a guy but have lied about it to all my doctors in fear of my parents finding out. and i see a phyciatrist often and told her i've never messed around with a guy before. should i tell her the truth or will she just tell my parents? In short why haven't i had a period since december? and if i have to go to a gyno what will they do?

Hey girlie! You should def to a doctor about this who can give you the facts. The gyno is nothing to be afraid of, all of us girls have to get checked out to ensure we stay as healthy as can be...Renee

MODERATOR okay i am 13 and have a horrible period... i have to use the super long pads... and am too afraid to ask to switch to tampons... plus i dont really wanna switch.... anyway i stayed home today becuase i started my 7day long period.... and umm well tommorow ill go back to school and umm well... to u no anyway to hide my period in gym class???? i have tried wearing tight uunderwear and that helps but like i feel awkward... and we have to go outside tommorow in 80 degree weather!!! please help me!!! i am so not wanting to go!!!!!! sometimes mine is so heavy it leaks through my heavy heavy pad and my jeans onto the leather seats in the car, is this normal? my mom hasnt told me about tampons, and i have ballet, does she care?, i am always so embarrassed because when i have to go down or something in ballet, i feel it leaking, i hate pads, what do i do?.

******MOD**** I'm getting sick with who knows what. I have sores all over my forehead that look like acne but they hurt WAY more and aren't, I have the worst pain in my back and side and I'm almost feeling like I have no emotion. I bought this stuff that was supposed 2 help w/ severe acne, which is what i have, and it worked really well. except...it completely dried out my skin!!!! now it's beginning 2 crack and it hurts and looks bad. my parents told me to put petroleum jelly on it. do u think it will work? also, do u think i'll be able to get rid of it b4 next friday? ************SHOEGAL126************************
Petroleum jelly is great for super duper moisturizing your body, but if you're prone to breakouts, it may just clog up your pores and cause you to break out again. Get a really good face moisturizer and apply it morning and night. Try something like Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF 15. If you make sure to keep washing your face AND moisturizing, I'm sure it'll get better by next Friday.
