All GL readers want to be healthy and helpful, right? Well, now you can be both. One4One, an organization that helps raise awareness for cervical cancer, wants you to get involved in the fight against cancer by participating in their latest fundraiser. One4One will use the money raised to sponsor programs and services to educate women about cervical cancer. And cervical cancer is a big deal, too. This type of cancer is actually brought on by a virus called the human papillomavirus (most people just call it HPV for short). Women can be exposed to HPV as early as their teens or twenties. One4One reports that last year over 11,000 American women found out that they had cervical cancer. Yikes. Talk about some scary statistics, huh? But there is some really good news, too—cervical cancer can be prevented. And here’s where you come in. From now until June 5, Merck & Co. (a company that discovers, makes and sells prescription drugs) has agreed to donate $5 to One4One for every woman who goes to one4onepledge.org and pledges to talk to her healthcare provider about cervical cancer. So talk to your mom, your aunt, your grandmother and any other close woman in your life and tell them about what you know about cervical cancer and the One4One fundraiser. Yep, it’s that simple. Remind them to go online to one4onepledge.org to promise to talk to their healthcare provider about cervical cancer (and you should do it, too!). It seems like such a li’l thing, but it really can make a difference. -Aubrey Tippett

wow!!! hpv ... thats alot of ppl (women). im glad i can help make a differents. buy the way i just got a bf, & its that time of the moth. i hate this time... but my bff makes me fell better, and he has a big sister so he nos. im 13 and hes 15 and his sister is 17 almost 18, so she can ride us around, not really i get my hardship this year so i can DRIVE! finally!!!!

My mom had pre-pre-pre cancer cells, so she had to get a surgery. =P I got a vaccination for the virus, thankfully.

Hey girl! You could probably ask your mom about the procedure, but theres nothing to worry about! It doesn't hurt and its super quick. As embarrassing as it is, your doctor is a trusted individual and there's nothing to worry about! --Avery

I had my cervical cancer shot already, even though I'm pretty young. I really hope I don't get any type of cancer! I'm worried mostly because cancer runs on my Mom's side. MOD please help me! I don't know how to chill out about getting cancer!!!!! HELP

***MOD*** i was wondering if you could send something to the magazine editors or whoever, and put a small article in the next issue (or whenever) about www.freerice.com . freerice.com is a site where you get quizzed on vocabulary and every word you get right, it sendsd 5 grains of rice to third-world countries that are suffering from hunger. thanks ... also, are there new smiley faces? hey mod mod mod mod, im really scared so i got a subscription to the mag then changed my mind so it sent me this bill , and i just threw it away , cuz i hadnt even gotten the mag yet. but it sent another bill and a mag, i dont want them and i dont wanna pay. how can i cancel this subscription, can i send the mag back???

I got this one Gardisil shot for this reason... the one made up of 3 series of shots that prevents you from cervical cancer up to 90% or something... that's comforting, but you never know. Which is scary.

Yeah, I just got my HPV Gardasil shot. My doc already talked to me about it...does that count??? I think that everyone should get this shot. It only hurts for a day, and it is probably way worth it in the long run.

Once my period was really heavy and I made sure to double up with a tampon and pad. Later that day at school, my crush walked up to me and asked me what was on the back of my pants.
