I really want to save up for a special kind of bike. Me, my mom and dad were sitting and watching TV, and I just told them that I was saving up for one. They said NO because I can have my mom’s old bike. But I want my OWN bike and they wont let me! My dad said I’m so “scatterbrained” and “wasteful.” I've had my bike for 3 years and they insist that it’s still new!-kourtney+emma...BFF FOR LIFE!Ahh, the woes of being a teen. You’re stuck in that place where you’re starting to grow up and establish your own identity and values, but you’re still at your parents’ mercy. Your ideas of how to spend your money isn’t exactly how your parents think you should spend your money, so of course you’re going to butt heads a little. But there is hope!Keep saving up your money. It is, after all, your money. When you finally get enough saved up, instead of being defiant and saying, “Ha, I saved up the money, so I’m going to buy it anyway,” bargain with them. Say, “I know you think I should just use Mom’s old bike, but I really would like to be able to pick out a bike of my own. I don’t expect you to buy me a new bike, so I’ve worked really hard to save up the money myself. For my birthday (or Christmas, or some other gifting holiday), could you take me so I can buy myself a new bike?” Hopefully after some consideration, they’ll realize how mature it was of you to set a goal and achieve it., and will reward you with allowing you to buy the bike of your dreams that you worked hard for!

MOD-anyone else--i really need help really my sis and dad always fight i dont know what to do she tells me she hates him and is going to run away!!! she tells me i dont understand and that she hates it here whenever i tell her to calm down. i know she really will run away and i dont know what to do i will kill myself if shee runs away!!!
make sure your sister knows how much you love and value her. Then ask you dad if he can try to get along better with your sister because you are worried about her. Laura

***MOD*** My parents recently announced they were going to get a divorce. They said they had differences, it wasn't because someone was cheating on one another or doing drugs or anything like that, they just couldn't be together. They just keep fighting and fighting and my sister and I can hear it all. Hearing it now everything sounds a lot different than they said. I know I shouldn't listen to it because who knows what's true and what's not and all that, but you can hear them throughout the whole house. I'm just sick of all the fighting and I'm not sure what to do. Thanks!

***MOD*** I got my ears pierced a little while back. They tell you to keep the earrings in for 6-8 weeks. So, the 6 week mark is coming up soon, June 9th to be exact. Thing is, my graduation is June 6th. I don't think the few days will make a huge difference and neither do my parents, but should I wait and not change them for graduation, so then they will be like 7 weeks or so old? Will I be risking infection if I change them for graduation? Thanks!
I think you'd be ok, as long as they're not still too tender or anything. You mostly just need to make sure you have something in or else the holes will close up. And try to stick with real silver or gold earrings for now. Fashion earrings tend to infect sensitive ears easily, especially when they're still freshly pierced.

***MOD*** I just bought a pair of earrings that look like zippers- personally I think they are totally awesome, I love wacky, interesting things like that. Thing is, I remember a while back we had a discussion on zipper earrings and my friends decided they were "tacky, strange and ugly". I really like a lot of things they don't at all, my style is totally different. I love color, strange things, 80's stuff, anything fun and new. I feel like I can't be myself because they will think I look dumb and criticize me behind my back like they do with other people. I know I should just be myself, and that they sound like rather rude and not very much fun friends, but I'm not sure what to do! Thanks!
Just go with your own style! Just because they don't like them doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. Everyone just has different tastes and styles. Nothing wrong with that.

***MOD*** I ride and compete with horses, and spend a lot of time at the barn, at least a few hours at a time each day. I love it, but I get hungry sometimes. What are some good, healthy snacks that I can keep with me during my trips to the barn? Thanks!
hey girl! you're asking the right person! i ride compete and spend all day at the barn too, so i usually bring fruits and veggies with me. we have a microwave out there too, so sometimes i bring microwaveable meals. those aren't so healthy, but they're good when i need something in my stomach!

OMG i have the most embarrassing moments ever: Okay so my parents were going out and my twin brother and all of his friends were going to the movees and i was going to be home alone so my mom said that i could have a friend come over. Every one left and my friend came over and we were so board so we dicited to have a faishon show on my balcony witch over looks my family room. so i went in my room and my friend went in my moms room down the hall. Our first oufit was long dresses. our second outfit was our bra and underwhere then we had all kinds of outfits. then we got thongs put them on and we had a pillow fight. all the sudden we herd laughting i look over the balcony and my brother and all his friends came to my house after the movies and were watching me and my friend moddle and (remenber me and my brother are twins so all the boys were in my grade!) try to top that embarrassing moments PLEASE READ AND COMMENT!

MOD i have a prob about me and my "ex" bff well we used to talk 24/7 and in class it wasn't just me it was always me and her and now its strange. . . well theres this guy, lets call him jason jason is my old bgf hes a jerk so i just told him off and told him to get lost (that was a good day. . .lol) but my "ex" bff and him are now super close friends always having inside jokes and stuff like that. i dont care about that its just wat evs but they say mean stuff about me. i could understand y he says it but my bff thats wrong. so i just stopped talking to her. i told her that i was mad and that i was done. and i keep hearing that shes spreading rumors bout me (which shes not) and all this stuff and it's pretty much that people are taking a side and people just hate me now. like my "ex" bff's friend calls me a bi**h and other mean names and a lot of people wont talk to me so i dont wanna be my "Ex" bff's friend bcuz wat she did was wrong and its been going on for ever but im sick of people hating me so wat do i do?

~!MOD!~ I love helping charities and doing community service. I want to start doing something like helping kids with homework or having a fund raiser, but I don't know where to start. I'm only 11 (almost 12), so most people wouldn't take me. I love helping people and doing hands-on, non-profit work. Do you have any advice on how I could start?
Check with your school to see what programs they have going. Or you could organize your own carwash or bake sale! <3 Jaime

hey, my dad owns a bike store. he gets issues like this all the time. like parents who go to him to talk about their kids and new bikes. see if there is a bike store in your town and have your parents talk to the owner. i tell my friends this and it works. =]

**MOD** I'm so scard about monday at school. In math, were doing this project where we have to pick a section of the text book and then teach it to the class. And I have two problems with that: 1) I get extrememly nervous when getting up in front of the class to present a project 2) I've never taught anything to my class before, and it has to take like 15-20 minutes. So, how can I help to calm myself down and not be so nervous while still putting effort into this project? Please help!
hey! the best way to make sure that you arent nervous is to prepare a ton. everyone has to do it so they wont be judging you because they have to do the same thing. dont worry, relax and prepare yourself!

MOD I didn't make the dance team that I was on last year, I am really upset and everyone that I talked to can't understand why I didn't make it. The thing is, the coach won't tell us what the reason is. and I don't think that I can go back to school with out being made fun of by the girls on the team. Any ideas on what I could do?
hey! try to talk to the coach again. although it is a very big setback, i think that you will just have to focus your time elsewhere to fill the time. keep up practicing so that you can make it again next year!
