So I like to have friends over for sleepovers, any girl does, right? Well, whenever I have a friend over my 5 year-old little sister always wants to hang out with us! I hate that! Sometimes my mom makes me let her. MY FRIENDS! NOT HERS! And, since she wants to hang out with me and my friend, she always get to have a friend too! So she doesn’t feel jealous. She always has her best friend named Bella. (who doesn’t go to her school anymore) so they ALWAYS see each other, even when I don’t have a friend! It’s NOT fair. I know, I know life is not fair, but still! For once, I would like to have MY friend over without interruptions, and my sister not having her friend 24/7! I GET SO ANNOYED WITH MY SISTER! I don’t want her to bug me and my friend, but I also don’t want her 2 always get a friend! She has to learn! PLEASE HELP! - Smart'n'Sassy Smart'n'Sassy,While it's totally normal to get annoyed by a younger sibling, you've got to understand that she's hanging around because she admires you and your friends so much. To her, you gals are rockstars. You get to do all sorts of things she doesn't and she feels a little bit cooler when she gets to hang out with the older girls. She's watching your every move, trying to figure out what she wants to be like when she's older and probably trying to model herself after you. You're her role model, and having her see you get super annoying and short tempered is not going to help her in the long run. Your sister is five years old, meaning that she's got a whole lot of free time on her hands. Free time that is usually used for play dates with younger children. You probably had a whole lot of them when you were younger too. What else is a five year old supposed to do? She can't read a whole book right now like you can and she doesn't have the patience to see a project out to its completion. She needs to have a buddy around to help her learn and grow and express her creativity. Why don't you try to strike a deal with your mom and sister about your private time when you have a friend over? Offer that your sister is able to hang out with you gals for a certain amount of time before the big girls need to be left alone, or offer to play a certain game with her, then go do your thing. You don't have to do this every time, but showing your sister that you care about her, and setting a good example for her, is definitely the sisterly thing to do. -Alli

Dear i.luv.horses, sometimes smilin at them or sayin hi in the hall can get a guys attention. or use the gum trick. ask the guy if he has any gum. it can start a real convo trust me. i use it ALL the time

Hey girl! Ive been there before, I have a younger sis too. The best way to deal with it is really to ignore her, once she sees she isnt getting a reactiion out of you, she will stop. Or try explaining toi her that she needs to start acxting more mature in a mature way....dont yell it only makes things worse. *Cara T*

whenever i have friends over my sister does this too (she's 9, i'm 12). when i try 2 make it clear 2 her that me and my friends r 3 yrs older she doesn't seem to comprehend it. but when my dad says she shouldnt bother us, she understands. so ANNOYING!!!!!!!

hey mod! hows it going im good i think well this guy that i like we'll call, G well G and i were talking and he told me that he had cancer. . .as a joke and i ttly got that it was a joke but i wanted to cry bcuz like i cant live without him but today i went up and hit him bcuz he told me he was gonna die and he was here so its all ok now. in class we were flirting and talking and i wrote on his hand with pink high lighter i hate you as a joke and he new i was kidding but i wrote on my hand i hate G just as a joke and he got all sad and wouldn't talk to me it was really weird so unlike him wat do u think that means bcuz i've done that b4 and he hasn't cared. . . plz help and answer soon im super confused!
Hmm, I'm not sure. Maybe he's just trying to pretend he's sad to make you feel bad and then go plead with him (and essentially give him attention). Wait to see how he acts tomorrow.

MOd***************, I was just reading all the comments and i saw the one about hair lightners. Ok well my hair is kind of a mix of brunnette, red, and a little bit of blonde. MODERATOR* i really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY like this guy who goes to the all-boys school across the street from me (i go to the all-girls school) and is in 9th grade (im in 8th). i've known him since last november, and even though i walk to his school almost everyday, and see him all the time, i've never actually talked to him in person...i always talk to him on AIM or Facebook. the thing is, we always have "friendly" talks ... nothing memorable, but i want it to go a step further but i dont know how. im scared to start flirting because im afraid hes not going to want to flirt back or something like that but gosh, im tired of just talking and its not moving foward. i mean i guess he kind of says stuff thats flirtatious like when i say brb, and then when i get back he says yay! and he'll say lmao at stuff that i say thats not even funny, and when i asked him about what phone company i should use, he gave me like a whole paragraph long of an answer but still didnt even answer my question...but i dont really think that stuff is actually "flirtatious.." lately we have been talking about saying hi to each other in person and stuff which i have but hi just isnt gonna cut it... so please help me on what to do!!!
hey girl! sounds like he might be flirting! maybe find out what hes really into and then talkk about that. or find out what you two have in common, then you'll for sure have something to talk about!

hey girl! just try to be outgoing and participate in the conversations. don't just sit back and listen, be active. if she doesnt change to notice you, maybe the other people in that group will.

SMART'N'SASSY, I can really understand what you are going through, this used to happen, and well, still does happen, with my sister, although she is now 11 years old and I am 16. Well, as Alli has said in your anwser, your sis does have more free time. I know, dont you just wish you were that age again? But you wont be, instead, you´ll get the privileges of growing up and having more freedom, which is what your sister aspired to, thats why she probably hangs out with you guys. I say talk to your parents when your sis isnt around and they are relaxed. Tell them that you feel the need to have alone time with your friends, and that sometimes the impostion of having your sis hang out with you guys is too much. Offer an alternative, like hat Alli said in her awnser, to hang out with her maybe some days, for a short while, and then she can leave and do her thing. When the time is up, why dont you get your mom yo do something fun with her, like watch a movie? Or tell them that when she has her friend bella around and you have yours, they get to play in their room and you hang out at yours and you each do your own thing.If she starts getting obnoxious or making a lot of noise just ignore her and tell your parents instead. I know that it is easy to get jelous of your sister, but you were once that age too, and she has to have something, like a friend. Make a deal with your mom that if she starts interrupting in the days that you and your friends havent planned spending some time with her (make it clear when that is), she should get her and do something to distract her and make her have fun like take her to the park or read her a story. Also, tell your sister that you really appreciate it when she behaves nice and lets you spend some time alone with your friends. Maybe when your friends are gone you can even enjoy an activity with your sister yourself. Give it a try. And remember to be pacient, your sister may be annoying some times, but sheñs only 5. Soon she´ll want friends to call her own, but until then, you are her inspiration.

MOD!!!!!! ok so there is this guy who likes me (and ive told him i just wanna b friends) well we talk online and whenever i have 2 go ,cause my mom calls me to go do something, he will start saying stuff like "ok so i guess ur not talking 2 me anymore i wont bother u again," or ,"its funny how fast friends abandon u." ive told him a ton of times that sometimes my parents tell me 2 go do stuff and that sometimes i dont have time 2 talk a lot. whenever i leave i make sure 2 tell him brb and i change my status 2 away. but if i dont speak in like 10 minutes he starts saying that stuff. i keep thinking im hurting him by leaving but i cant just not listen 2 my parents. idk wat 2 do!!!just today he said hi and it took me 3 minutes 2 answer cause i didnt c that he said hi rite away. and he started freaking out about how he thought i was his friend and that friends dont just abandon each other. ive never abandoned him or told him i didnt want him 2 talk 2 me. so i dk where this is coming from!! can u help?? thx!

I hqave the same prob with my 4 yr old sister and it can get annoying cuz shes always knocking on my door to hang out but then i remember shes 4 and looks up to me or my mom reminds me. Shes usually very entertaining and my friends love her but if we do sumthin with her we tell her that we have to go and the problem is solved
