With so many great sports out there to play, some, such as badminton, get overlooked. Sure, it’s not the most popular sport on the block, but badminton is fun, fast-paced and perfect for sunny summer fun! Badminton is basically a mix between tennis, volleyball and squash. You play with long handled racquets, and “birdies” or shuttlecocks (those things that get whacked back and forth). The original birdie was a cork with feathers sticking off one side creating a conic shape, allowing it to spiral through the air. Now, most people use cheaper and more durable plastic versions that you can find at any sporting goods store. You can play singles or doubles, serving the birdie over a net about five feet high. The server has to serve the birdie within a specific box on the opposite diagonal side of the net. The rest entails a rally back and forth across the net, peppered with spikes, slams, drop shots and clears. It’ll really keep ya’ on your feet! If your school offers badminton as a club or sport, you might want to consider giving it a shot. It varies from being considered a fall or spring sport and is guaranteed to keep you entertained while improving your hand-eye coordination. Can’t find it at school? Check our your local YMCA or any other activity center in your area for club teams. Better yet, pick up a yard set from llbean.com, SEARS or Target and get the whole fam involved. By: Holland White

we play it in PE sometimes... its pretty fun but i wouldn't want to play it all the time. btw second comment? sry ik its annoying

its really fun we have a net and i play alot in the afternoons with my dad and sometimes after dinner with my mom. we don't have rules we just serve and hit back + forth.

we played badminton in gym and i absolutely LOVED it! its so much fun! i think its more fun to play when your having fun with friends rather that joining a team!

Badminton is so much fun. I thought it was harder than tennis at first, but it became easier once I got the hang of it. We named our birdies after rats (Remy and Emile from Ratatouille). We have a badminton/volleyball net in our yard, but it just fell down...again. We only had it up for a week, and the yellow netting faded. The thing is i guess is to find a really durable net, either that or we didn't put it up right :lol:

mod, i'm a big girl, there's no denying that, and i'm going to an amusement park next week, and i just have this paranoia that the rides wont shut!! idk why but i'm so scared, if i have to get off the ride it will be so embarrasing! what do i do?

I like Wet Seal, Forever 21 and Rue 21 when I'm on a low budget. Even Target has some great clothes, sometimes. Hit up the sales!

I love badminton! At first i didn't like it becuz i couldnt serve for some reason, but now that i CAN all of a sudden, i LOVE it! its a fun game that can be mellow or super competitive! i got a kit at outdoor world that had a volleyball, net, 4 rackets, and 2 birdies...for only like $20-$30. you should definately try this with ur friends if u r sporty at all!

dear mod, for some reason, my previously flat stomach is starting to hang over my shorts!!!!!!!! my period is coming i think, but i dont think it's just bloating!! whats going on, and how can i stop it??? please help!!!!!!!
Hey Girl, I really don't know what's going on with your stomach. It might be bloating, or some water weight before your period. If it doesn't go away after your period, maybe you should try doing some cardio a few days a week to jump start your metabolism. ~Callie

MOD hey. my bff called me she couldn't come 2 my house cuz her "mom". I don't believe her cuz another of my bffs mom was talking to her mom and she said my bff should get more popular. may b she can't come cuz her mom wanting her 2 b popular not her mom saying she can't go cuz she needs 2 clean her room. Anyways, I checked her profile online and it said she was happy. she was miserable when I talked 2 her. i think she doesn't wanna b bffs and doesn't wanna tell me either, she already acts more popular and snobby. What do u think out this?
If you value her friendship I would confront her. Maybe ask if just the two of you can hang out and talk to see what is going on with her. She will appreciate that you care for her that much as a friend to ask her what is going on!

Everyone is different about checking emails. I would just talk to your friend in person or on the phone if it's taking awhile!
