Bear Attacks? Oh My!

Someone told me that, when you go camping, you need to be careful because bears attack women who have their periods. Is this true?

Somebody, hurry up and alert the producer of Urban Legends 3! “There is no statistical evidence regarding bears attacking women on their periods,” says Cheryl Matthews, a spokesperson for Yellowstone National Park.

However, most animals do have acute sensing and smelling organs, and they can detect the scent of blood and pheromones, according to Lee Werle, mammal curator at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

If your period coincides with a camping trip, don’t bury your tampons or pads. Animals will likely dig them up and could get sick. Instead, place them inside an airtight bag, and put in a crushed aspirin to absorb the odor. Just be careful not to confuse that bag with the one you packed your crush’s sandwich in.

Mod, I posted one before this too and this goes along with it. Ok, u said to wear a "T" for the swim meet just in case, but its not soposed to bee safe to wear one when u don't have ur period. And i dont want to do that! Please respond ASAP, thx. xoxo

ive had the same thing happen to me. the best thing to do is to just face the fact that shes gone..which may be a little hard to do...but its true..

and maybe this summer you can make a surprise trip up to visit her..trust me shell be sooo happy to see you!

just because shes moving definitely that doesnt mean you can never see her again! if you have texting, do that...and you can talk to her on email or aim.

this will also be a great opportunity to meet and make new friends!

Hey girl! Yes, those things can be hereditary. Every girl is different though and chances are, you'll go through phases when you have bad cramps, and other times when you feel perfectly fine. When you do get those symptoms, take some Midol or Pamprin.

It's been proven that exercise can reduce bloating and make you feel alot better during your period. I'm not too sure about how it will effect the cramps, but it's def worth a few tries.

Hey girly,

If your first period suddenly starts in school don't panic but go to the bathroom. Because you won't have a tampon or pad, you're going to have to use toilette paper for the moment. If you know any of you friends who started their period by that time, ask to borrow something for your period. If not, go to the nurse's office and explain your situation. It might be embarrassing, but it's a good way to either contact your parents or get something that will help you with your period.

so my friend who im not that close with because she goes to another school(we are part of a big group) wears tampons, and i wanted to try them so i emailed her asking if she had any advice, etc. i thought i could trust her so i emailed my concerns. while i was out of town, she had a sleepover with my best friends and she showed it to them and they laughed at it! i really needed help though and it made me feel terrible and like i cant trust her. idk if i should email her telling her that i didnt like her doing that. (she gets mad at me really easily)
