Is This Normal

Pre and Post Period Pains

I seem to get diarrhea right before and during my period. Are they related?

More than likely. Often, the surging of hormones before and during the menstrual cycle can cause your bowels to loosen. Some girls experience constipation right before their periods and diarrhea after their periods. How lovely!

***************** MOD MOD MOD!!! *******************
Hi, I've been getting REALLY spaced out cramps and pains in my abdomen and vaginal discharge for like 5 months but no periods! What is wrong? IS something even wrong? I'm afraid to ask my mom cuz its embarrassing and i cant ask my doc cuz my moms always in the room! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!

Hey girlie,

If you're worried, you shouldn't be afraid to ask your mom OR your doctor.  This is actually pretty normal and these things can go on for a while without a period, but I would face your fear and talk to them because of the abdominal pains.  Though it most likely is nothing, it COULD be something that isn't normal... and you don't want to mess around with that just because you're scared of an awkward situation!

******************MOD************ i get kinda constipated for like 1 1/2 weeks and then like a week before and during my period i have loose bowels.... and like after my period s over its normal for like a week. is there anything i can to make my system work better??? cause it really isnt fun. Frown THANKS!!!

Hey missy, mhmm it could have something to do with what you're eating. Try eating light foods like soup, crackers, noodles two weeks before your period. Be sure you mark down on a calendar when your next period is coming so you can get ready to switch up your diet. Avoid cheese, bread and chocolate because those kinda things can get your tummy hurting. If you still feel the same it may be best to call up your doctors to see if there is anything they can do, because they know your bod best and will be able to help ya out. Hope ya feel better chica!!!!!!! Smile

Hey girl! I would head back to the derm. He will be able to tell you what's up and maybe if he should prescribe you a different medication!

MODMODMOD!!!!!! Okay, so I've had my period twice and each time I felt sick to my stomach and tired/lethargic the whole first day. Loud noises make my head hurt, but it doesn't feel like my regular headaches (the ones where I'm NOT on my period) because bright lights don't usually bother me. Also, I don't get cramps when I'm on my period but the day AFTER my period stops it feels like somebody's kicked me in the gut. But it only lasted like a half an hour. Is this normal?

modmodmod, i generally don't get carsick but have been ever since i got my period. i am 14 and going to Georgia from FL tomorrow and have my period, do you know what is best to take for it? also, which tampons are the best? i have been trying but don't know the dif. this is only my 2nd period. is like one tampon healthier than another???? and absorbency like does one brand leak more or something?

Hey gal, try Advil or Tylenol. Also ask your 'rents what they suggest. Always have great products of different types of pads and tampons. But try Kotex too. Smile

MOD. D: I began bleeding yesterday, but it's not my period, I can tell the difference. It wasn't a lot, but now my uterus is really sensitive and is sore. It doesn't feel anything like my period. I am no longer bleeding like that, but like I said, I'm REALLY sore.

Hey girl! You should def get to a doc soon. I'm not entirely sure what is going on with your bod, but a doc will be able to tell you right away!

ok, so this might be kinda long. IN july i had this brownish stuff in my underwear, but it wasn't blood, it was just brown discharge which i thought was kinda weird but then it went away. So now that i think about it it has come back every month, and it was still just discharge, with no blood that i could see. In september, i noticed that it got really bad, but it still smelled like discharge, so i put a little mark on my calendar, on the 29th. In late october, i noticed that stuff in my underwear again, except this time, when i would use the restroom, there would be blood on the toilet paper sometimes. Did i start? My mom saw my dirty underwear and said i was spotting, so she bought me some pads. If i rememeber (i really didn't pay attention) the blood on the TP only lasted for about 2 days, but the brown discharge lasted for 3-4. is that normal? do you think i started my period? and if i did, do you think it will be more noticeable next month, bc i don't think i've really fully started, i'm just spotting a little....thanks so much!!!!
----PhotographyGirl

Hey babe,

I think you're starting your period really slowly, but next time there will probably be more blood. It's definitely normal and you'll probably have a normal period in a few months.

Puberty you can wikipedia or google for more information, usually a growth spurt, hair in private places, and raised chest area indicate you're going through it. Also sexual feelings are also a sign.

Guys have it soooo easy.
All they go through is getting a deeper
voice and smelling awful.
whereas girls have their monthly gift,
PMS, (Fun,fun, fun.) and tons of other
things like "girl drama" and stuff like that to deal with. guys have it so easy. all they have to do is eat and sleep while girls have so many responsibilities. who agrees with me?

I'm in seventh grade, and my mom got her period when she was finishing fifth grade! Does this mean that my period is coming soon?? thanks!

what is the normal age that your period starts?? and what is some advice on what to do when it happens?? (you can tell i havent had my period yet) lol plz help!

Hey babe, every girl is different but the average is prob between 10-15. Just know what to expect before you get it so you're not taken off guard and know how to prepare. Talk to your mom or older sis about it and check out our Periods, Period page for more info!

okay two things:
everytime i talk to a boy that i like my palms start sweating like crazyy! it's super embarrasing, and i always think about going out with a boy and when he goes to hold my hand he gets totally grossed out.
i wash my hands all the time and idk how to stop this!
second; is it better to wash your hair at night or in the morning?

Hey Girlie,

Remember that everyone, even your guy gets nervous and it's great that you talk to him in the first place.  Don't worry so much things always work out differently than expected.  If you do date someone and that does happen just laugh and say sorry I'm a little nervous and I'm sure he won't even mind.  As far as your hair, I've never heard anything about it making a difference either way, it's more what works for your schedule.
