Acne Scars!

 

 

I have really bad acne scars on my face from popping pimples. Can I get rid of them?
 
Now you know not to pop a zit! It almost always makes the imperfection worse. Say you have a school dance, and a big red honker appears on the tip of your nose. Don’t squeeze it to death. A dermatologist can inject a hydrocortisone-like cream to reduce redness and inflammation. Or she can open up the pimple. Neither procedure leaves scars. Keep that in mind next time you get the urge to squeeze.
 
Dr. Ronald Davis, clinical professor of dermatology at University of Texas Southwestern says many scars improve with time. “Some scars are more noticeable initially because they are red,” he says, “but they fade in time. They will improve as you get older.” In cases of severe acne scars, Dr. Davis recommends microdermabrasion, a procedure that removes the outer layer of dead skin cells to gradually fade the scars. Also, a laser treatment is now being developed to stimulate collagen that helps fill the scars in and make them less prominent.

I have acne scars that are terrible I've used clean and clear and Clearasil and these things my mom gives me for my face but now i need something that can get ca get rid of my acne in 2-3 weeks can you please help me

MOD!MOD!MOD! How does a pimple go away if you dont pop it? Where do the oils and dead skin? Does to puss just go back into your face?

 

 

Hey girly! If you don't pop a pimple, it will eventually dry up. Although it's tempting, it's way better for your skin if you just let it go away naturally, and don't pop. Also, you can try a spot treatment on it.

Hey girl, I don't know about olive oil working, but you can help heal acne scars by taking care of your skin and preventing more pimples from breaking out. Moisturize and cleanse your skin morning and night with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. Spot treat zts

mod: i had a zit like right next to my eyebrow. i popped so now there was a scab which (me being me) i picked off. now the scab won't go away. it's really embarrassing and i can't cover it with makeup. what should i do?




Hey, girlie! The best thing for you to do now is not try and put any make up on it, because it may  just get more infected. Put some neosporin or other anti-bacterial creams on it and let it heal up! It should start to look better within a few days!

A WARNING ABOUT ACNE PRODUCTS:
Check the ingredients before you buy! A lot of products have benzoyl peroxide, which can make some girls (including me) get a painful and annoying rash on their faces. Trust me, I've been there! If you know you might have sensitive skin (e.g. you have to use unscented deodorant) your safest bet is stuff with salicylic acid. If your zits are really horrendous, you can have your doctor prescribe something stronger, like an antibiotic you dab on.

Its not from popping your zits. Its just from having bad acne. My dermatologist says I'll get scarring if my acne doesn't get cleaned up AND she doesn't know I pop mine. My mom does too and she doesn't have any scars. Its a myth. The dermatologist has never told me not to pop them. So there, GL. You're wrong! LOL JK (well you are wrong though) Smile

please answer! ok so i left a note b4 sayin that i have discharge and i want pantyliners 2 my mom and she said then y dnt i see it in my undies. now i said that i found out from GL that discharge can dry 2 a diff color and that my discharge sticks to me. i ask her pantyliners again. Hey girl, for the pantyliner thing? They aren't totally required so don't sweat it if your mom says no. They do, however, make things easier for her. Tell her if you wear pantyliners, there's less to clean if the discharge stains your panties when she does the laundry. As for your sleepover sitch? Tell your mom this sleepover means a lot to you and ask your friend's mom call her so they can discuss things -- sometimes it helps if they talk to the other parent involved.

just squeeze it a bit and if puss comes out then it was ready to be popped, but if nothing coming out of it , LEAVE IT BE !

Hey guys! The best way to get zits GONE is to use Clinque 3-step acne products. its the bomb xD. i take 7 different over-the-counter stuff for acne, 4 prescriptions, and 5 creams. for the over the counter, clinque is the best Laughing its cheap!! like for the whole kit its like 5-10 bucks. and it works better than some of my prescriptions

Hey girl!  You def want to try and break this habit.  Try getting mirror markers or even a brightly colored sign to put on your mirror that tells you to stop.  Everytime you go to pop, look up, tell yourself to stop, and look up at that sign.  But the best thing to do is try to find some type of cream that gets rid of the pimples so you don't feel like you have to pop them.  Try diff brands, creams, and face washes to see what works best for your skin.  Best, Kristen

I use Cetaphil every morning and night and it works great! It's also cheap and you can get it anywhere. Different face washes work for different people so if 1 doesn't work just keep trying different ones until you find the right one! Check out my profile and leave a comment! Laughing

Mod mod mod mod hey mod I have a question. Why do I always look a LOT skinnier after I run the mile? (we run every week) I looked in the mirror in the locker rooms and I looked way thinner. Normally, I'm not overweight but I'm a little close. After the mile, I look super skinny, but as the day goes on(even when I'm not eatin anything) I go back to normal. Why does my body do that? my friend has her own dermatologist. She says that he said it's ok to pop pimples, so she does. I told her that it'll leave scars but she didn listen to me, now she has a few scars right above her nose, between her eyebrows. But she refuses to say that I warned her. MOD MODMOD do all people get scars from popping acne?

Hey girl, acne is caused by dirt and oil that clog up your pores. You should always wash your face with soap to clear it up, but when it's really bad (even with prescription med) you should know that it can be a part of  puberty! Just continue to use what your derm gave you and tell yourself that you shouldn't pop them. That can affect that area with more germs and leave a scar! <3 Jeannie

MOD*MOD*MOD*MOD* My cheeks are sort of naturally red and I'm really pale, but I have all of these tiny red bumps on my cheeks. I have tried putting acne cream with the 10% thing but it doesn't help. Is this something other than acne?

 

It might be!  I would ask Mom to take you to the dermatologist (the skin doctor) to get it looked at!  He could just give you another cream to put on it but you never know... rather be safe than sorry!

here are some tips that i find to work: 1) don't touch your face. i know people always say that, but its true 2) to prevent bacne, what i do is i sleep with my hair in a bun and my bangs clipped up so no hair touchs my back and gets it oily while i sleep 3) drink tons of water, it really helps and 4) i really like using the product acnefree. it works like nothing else. Try it! I practically cleared my face instantly. lemme know if this helped any of you.

Place a little bit of toothpaste the nigh before, and the next day wash your face, moisturize and you will notice the white head has decreased substantially.<3 Sherryn D.

MOD i accidentally scratched this pimple that was on my nose (it bled sooo much) and I have a scar now. :-( and guess what? that happened JUNE OF 2008!!! would the microdermabrasion help?

I want to have perfect skin like my friends and be able to wear tank tops! i've tried nutrogena, acnefree, and proactiv but it doesn't work. Should i ask my mom about seeing a dermatologist?




Hey babe, you should def see a derm! If you're cleaning your face and doing everything you should then you might need an ointment or medication from a doc. He/she will be able to give ya the best info!

I don't usually pop zits.

SOLUTION: Get a small tube of Clearasil and dab some on the pimple once or twice a day. It'll be gone within a day or two.
