Just so ya know, having some odor is very normal! Your privates have a whole lot of sweat glands, which produce a slightly sweet smell. It’s just a fact that every girl has her own unique scent, which no one else can detect (we swear).

But sometimes, if the odor is suddenly more noticeable or seems slightly fishy, you may have an easily treatable problem. If this is the case, see a doctor. Yes, there are a ton of feminine medications at the drug store, but they may not be right for your particular issue. Now, while it may seem embarrassing to go to the doc about this stuff, try not to worry. Your doctor sees these problems every day, and she’s there to help you.

What you don’t want to do is start over-washing your tender tissues. Any odor is almost never due to poor hygiene, explains Dr. Elizabeth Stewart, M.D., author of The V Book. It’s either natural, or it indicates an infection. (Nearly one-fourth of all females get yeast and bacterial infections from time to time. So don’t worry!)

Meanwhile, soaps, sprays and deodorants will only make the problem worse. The chemicals in these products are unnecessary, and worse, they’re bad for you, Stewart adds. Washing with warm water is all you need to do to keep super clean.

mod! my last comment was about my ex who I like now. To anser yer ? the only reason I broke up with him was becuase of rumors that i found out werent true. *MOD* I have a doctor's appointment on Sat. and I'm really scared about it. I get really nervous there and I get discharge when I'm nervous. I also have a lot of hair. I'm afraid that when she looks 'down there' it will be uncomfortable....is there a way to handle it better?

Hey babe, just relax and take it easy. Your doc prob won't be doing an extensive look "down there," rather a quick peek or just even talk to you about it. She's a doc and she's seen it all so she'll be comfortable so just take a deep breath and you'll be fine!

Hey babe, you have to remember why it is that you broke up with this guy. Was there something that didn't work or can it be fixed? Just talk to him and talk it out and I'm sure you two can figure it out!

Somebody told me that I could use baby shampoo to wash... Should I??

Baby shampoo is gentle so it will be less irritating. I just use soap on my body and shampoo on my hair.

Just be sure to clean when you're in the shower with a body wash and be sure to change into clean undies every day.

I smell alot 'down there' it is so disgusting and reall ystrong.. it is so strong i can smell it through my jeans when i move my legs!!! idk what to do and really need some guidance!!! I know other people can smell it and it makes me feel alone. i have had really stronge discharge and now i am nervous or the smell. does it mean i have an infection? Please help asap!

Hey babe, discharge shouldn't have a strong smell so yes, I would go see a doc asap. It's prob nothing serious but you should def get it checked out.

MOD! Okay, so what would happen if you didn't treat a yeast infection for like 3 years. Would it go away alone? Also, do u need to go to a doctor if you think you have one, or could you just use the creams for them?
