Shawn Johnson struck gold by sticking a crazy-amazing routine on the balance beam in Beijing. This 16-year-old superstar also snagged three silver medals in her Olympic debut. And even though Shawn just won a Teen Choice Award for Favorite Athlete, this superstar is more like you than you may think. Who’da thought she’d be watching the Olympics on TV? Keep reading to find out more about your fave gymnast!
GL: After such tough competition, how do you feel about doing a more fun exhibition, like the Tour of Gymnastics Superstars? Shawn: I can’t wait!!! But I’m really excited to see my friends first. Then when it’s all over, hopefully I’ll go on a vacation. GL: Did you get a chance to watch any of the other competitions besides gymnastics? SJ: We got to watch TV every night so I saw quite a bit. Basketball, swimming, diving, men’s gymnastics, track and really a little of everything. GL: Were there any athletes you wanted to meet while at the Games? SJ: Yao Ming. I actually got to see him but haven’t gotten to meet him yet. GL: Is there any jewelry you always wear? Can you wear it when you compete? SJ: None while competing, but a [I wear a] peace necklace I got from a really close family friend that I wear every day, and my infinity ring I got from Worlds last year. GL: What are a few of your fave songs?

Shawn is my absolute favorite gymnast!!!!!! Well, her and Nadia. The US team got totally screwed out of medals. The judging was way to easy on the young Chinese girls.

I think Shawn is a good athlete but i think they should of interviewd nasti I'm mean she was the one who one a gold medal.It seems like shawn is always in the spotlight.

Okay, this has nothing to do with this article, but Hey MOD!? Could you please help me? My parents say I need more fiber in my diet. The truth is, I don't know what kind of foods have fiber in them. I'd ask my parents, but I'm too embarrassed to admit I'm clueless about this. Do you know any foods I could try that give me my fiber? Thanks.

Hey, i saw a story on this girl in teen vogue!! i didnt read it but maybe i will now. girlnextdoor-- there r LOTS of ways 2 get protein!!! u could drink K20 protein water and protein bars and stuff, all in the diet and nutrition aisle of ur lcoal grocery store!! or u can eat peanut and a bunch of other foods but PB is the only one i can remember off the top of my head.

I like Shawn ADN I am really glad she won the gold .But most of the spotlght is not put on shawn because most of the gymnastic commercials are about nastia .

The gymnastics in the olmpics are my fav. I love wathcing them. I wish I was there but I can't touch my toes so hahah.
