Addicted to porn


I’m 14, and I’ve been looking at porn. I’m really not that kind of person, and I want to stop. But it has gotten kind of addicting in a way. 
 
Dear Porned,
Many teens, especially guys, find themselves intrigued by such material. Your curiosity is normal, but one problem with pornography is that it’s so degrading to women. Respectable women don’t look or act like that. Looking at porn can indeed become addicting, but give yourself some credit: You’ve been able to stop for weeks at a time. Get yourself to sign off, and make plans with friends instead. You might even consider saying to your mom, “I stumbled onto a really gross site, and it’s OK with me if you want to block that stuff.” She’d probably be glad to change the parental controls or move the computer to a common area, no questions asked.

wow i'm suprised so many people are omitting this. i might well come clean too.

i sort saw stuff like that on south park once in a while . also i saw a older guys "man hod" on a r rated movie once (i'm 16 so i can do that...sort of) and wrecked my mind for life . i saw that type of stuff in fan fiction (i'm not kidding nerds can be preverts too) fortunatly i don't read them most of the time.

i don't like that i've done these things. watched these things dispite the fact i'm a virgin annd i'm a cristian. i isn't exactly porn but still it's pretty bad. i'm very sorry i've done these things

I was curious about a year ago too. I was addicted to porn for 9 months, and i still need help. It has become really addicting and i cant stop. My mom came across the website a few months ago and blamed my brother (he's 20) I was going to tell them but im afraid they're going to send me to a clinic for crazy or disturbed people. And to top things off I still watch it when my parents aren't home. I NEED HELP!!!! Is any of advice on this stuff in the Girl Talk book??

Hey girl, I think you should tell you parents, and it's not fair for
your brother to be blamed for something you're doing. Maybe your
parents can help you! Explain to them how you came across it and tell
them that you want to stop but don't know how because you're addicted.
And don't watch it when your parents aren't home- try to replace this
with a different habit like going on a different website, going on a
run, or making a nice snack. Tell yourself that you don't want to let
yourself get addicted to this. You could also try talking to a
psychologist or school counselor. Start your plan of action to stop now
so that you don't continue to become addicted to it any longer! I'm not
sure if any of this is in the Girl Talk book, sorry!

MOD! MOD! MOD! MOD! So I went over to my friends house a week or two ago and we got on youtube to look up the newest lady gaga song. When I got on i noticed her "Recommended for you" videos we're filled with PlayBoy stuff...I asked what that was about and she was like IDK. I thought maybe it couldve been one of her other family members but the problem is It was HER youtube account. I'd like to say something to her about it but I don't want to embarrass her. I've had some friends who are into that BUT i just don't want them to think I'm all up in there business....Any advice? PLEASE?!

 

Hey girl, wow that's a tough one - I can definitely understand why you were curious.  But from having a YouTube account myself, I know that sometimes the video recommendations are way different than things you've actually watched.  So, it could just be an inaccurate recommendation.  If you're worried about her for some other reason, like you think she is watching bad videos a lot or doing other inappropriate behaviors, you could talk to her about it.  xoxo

Hey girl,  I am so so sorry to hear about your struggles.  If you can't talk with your mom, I would see about visiting with your school counselor.  They can help you sort out this issue and work thorugh it.  It's really great that you reached out for help.  Hang in there, and it will get better!  xoxo

It happened to me to for a while. I didn't like it and i couldn't live with myself. I also started having really gross dreams. But I wasn't like that. I would wake up in the morning and be like "eww, that was disgusting". But i got passed it and everything is fine now!
