Now's the perfect time to set fab new fitness goals and pump up your workouts (no school yet, so no excuses, right?). Plan a new routine, and you'll feel great for back-to-books time!


Week 37: Push Yourself


Now that you’ve been exercising for a while, ya gotta make sure you’re still challenging your bod. Add 30-second sprints to your daily jog (and add an extra mile!), use heftier weights while strength training and finally get up the guts to try that hot yoga class. You’ll end up with that great, exhausted-in-a-good-way vibe and you’ll be putting the work back in working out.

May be I should start lifting weights my sister is 8 and I`m 11. She can pick me up and I can`t even pick her up!

I want to start working out but i never have before because I feel a little big. Not a lot though maybe about 5 pounds. even though my bmi is 21 I fell a little big. what should i start off with?

I'm actually just starting my work out program. =D Me and my bestie have a goal to be total tanks by the end of the year. Maybe not tanks but we want to be strong and fit.

Mods moderate the site. That means they check members' posts to make sure they're site appropriate, they post things and they give advice (good advice). I'm not sure how they became mods but I think it's their actual job.

i eat school lunch and sometimes i get regular lunch, stir fry, hotdogs...you know and sometimes i go through the alternate line where they serve pizza,salad, and subs. also every once in a while i buy 1-2 chocolate chip cookies. also i get to walk my dog every once in a while,am about to start regular PE, and start excercising more.Am i doing good healthy stuff?

Help please!!

I'm really trying to get fit. I want to exercise but my mom won't let me stay after school to use the school's fitness room, I have no money to buy a gym membership (I'm too young for everything but the Y) and I can't go to school early to use the fitness room then because then I would be all sweaty and gross for school. We have a mini fitness center in my basement but it's just an elipse and stuff for arms. I want to get good leg muscles (for jumping in cheerleading) but we don't have any exercise equipment for legs. I really don't know what to do. We don't even have a treadmill. I'm not just exercising to be healthy (even though thats part of it) but I'm exercising for cheerleading. I need to get fit. Help!!

Hey babes, schools have really cracked down on the nutrion of their food. As long as you eat sweets in moderation and are eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, you are on the right track. If you are concerned, i would try taking a walk after school or stepping up the cardio in general. PE is SOME cardio but unless you go all out in it, its really not that huge of a workout. xoxo JANA

I do about one hundred crunches in the moring and ten pushups and after work I go for a run or i do the elliptical. Anything that gets your heart rate up like bike riding, running. tennis is good for you. xoxo JANA

MOD Is there anyway to go to the very first Healthy You Program blogs without having to click the "Read More" button tons and tons of times? Also, I've heard that you can sign up to get Healthy You emails, is that true?

 

Hey girl, I am not sure how you would go back to the very original one without clicking those buttons, we havent gotten an archive option yet. As for the emails, I am positive you can do that but I am not sure HOW you do it. i think there is an option in the Healthy You blog. xoxo JANA

M... I don't go running because I get easily discouraged when running outside. There are hills all around my house and that makes it difficult. I want to train on a treadmill before I attempt at going outside, first. Anyways, it's already gotten cold where I live. It almost snowed yesterday. =[

 

If you dont push yourself you wont get better.Its easy to slack on the treadmill because YOU can manipulate the terrain and the minute you start getting tired you can slow down. Try running around on a track and then onthe weekends try running just a hill in your neighborhood. You will build up enough endurance to do it no sweat. xoxoJANA

mod i've never really paid attention to my wieght cause it's never been a problem until i started to gain a little extra wieght....not a whole lot but i used to be 110lbs. but now i'm like 115. and i've been working out more i've been running and working out with my bro's football team and soccer season started and my sister is my coach and she's really good and works us hard and makes us run which is really good cause i wanted to loose wight but i'm not eating healthy how do i eat healthy i want to but like theres no motivaion.....and my house has like pure junk food! how do i get motiated to eat healthy!

 

Hey babes, you are probably gaining weight because youre working out, muscle mass weighs more. Dont pay attention to what he scale says. Instead focus on how you feel. If you feel healthy then you are doing every thing right. As for healthy eating, drink lots of water and stick to fruits, veggies and things like oatmeal and peanut butter. Whenever you want to eat something junkie, grab something healthy instead, soon you will be going for the good stuff before you go for the junk stuff. xoxo JANA

________MOD___________ I can't help but avoid vegatables, I can eat some, but I will avoid the rest of the stuff. I've been eating more vegetables by trying to block out my tastebuds but I need more vegetables. Any Tips? Thanks! starr

 

Hey girl, carrotts, broccoli and green beans are super easy to eat, so is corn. You dont need to eat every veggie under the sun, just make sure you are getting enough vitamins. xo JANA
