IN THE NEWS: Girl Talk

You break up with your boyfriend and you immediately dial your BFF, mid-tears. You get into an argument with one of your girls and two seconds later, find yourself over at another BFF’s house, ranting. Hmm…catch on to anything yet?

As girls, we can all agree that whenever something happens or we have something on our minds, we turn to our friends; our lifelong sistas who are there through tears, angry fits and even in-house drama.

As healthy as it may seem to dump all our burdens onto a friend’s shoulder, research shows otherwise. According to The New York Times, studies have shown that too much girl talk can lead to emotional hardships, which include anxiety and sometimes even depression.

What? Gossiping and talking too much can cause emotional distress?! Yep, you got it. Researchers found that “co-rumination” aka obsessively talking about the same problem over and over, can actually make girls feel worse.

Yikes! That totally does not mean we should stop talking to our girls. What would life be without our besties?!

Instead of obsessing over a problem, try to find a solution. It is so much healthier to talk about it and figure out how to improve the sitch rather than going on and on about it.

Next time there’s a dilemma among you and your babes, get to the point and find a way to solve it!

My parents want me to try out for a sport, so I decided on one I like a lot. The problem is, I'm going to need tampons and contacts to make my sport easier. I'm not so sure I want to use these. But I really want to try this sport! I'm confused. What should I do?

Why don't you try one...And if that goes well, try the other. Take it one step at a time!

if ur not busy i have a few questions...
1) i think the guy i like was flirting with me @ this thing for school where our class helps out out old ppl @ this dinner-thing @ school. this old guy was flirting with me which is 2 gross 2 describe. i didnt tell him about it, but he asked me, "so, has that old guy ased u out yet?" and i joked, "yeah. r u jealous?" and he was like (saracastically but maybe not) "insanely jealous." then i got home and my sis had let her aim on, and i added the girl who i think im in competition 4 his heart with (lol) and she had copied and pasted a convo with my crush, A.B. it said "yea the old ppl where relly weird 2day." and tht was all but im worried he was saying that maybe they were weird 2 like me?????? or maybe he was flirting with her. what do u think??
2)OMG my "bff" who is like totally insane now always said she hated labels and judged my for buying abercreombie sweatshirts w. logos on them. well, now HER bff (who she always copies) wears aero sweatshits WITH LOGOS and of course my "bff" does 2. i was like, "um i thot u didnt like being an advertisement" and she was like, "well its not like im spending $50 on them." OMG!!!! i cant believe she said that!!! i cant beliebe she's acting like this. i cant believe that she disses my clothes when if her bff shopped at Saks she would take $$ out of her college fund 2 copy her. i dont know how 2 deal with her.
these probs rnt huge, but if u could answer them i'd appreciate it.

Hey Girl,

1. I think you are looking to deep into it, if you want to know, just ask, it is alot easier to have it all out in the open. 2. You wear what you want, it is an outward display of you only you, no one else. You do not have to spend alot of money for brand name labels you just have to be a smart shopper, so how does she know what it actually cost? Remember to be your own person and wear what ever makes you feel good no one else. Good Luck!
