Want delish treats that’ll please the ‘rents and the little tykes? Whip up a batch of yummy granola goodies for thumbs up all around. Throw in what the kiddies like, skip what they don’t, and don’t worry about measuring everything perfectly. It’s a perfect topping for fruit, ice cream or yogurt.

What You’ll Need:

•    6 cups quick-cooking (think) oats
•    1⁄2 cup sliced almonds
•    1⁄4 cup sunflower seeds
•    1⁄2 cup unsweetened coconut
•    1 cup wheat germ
•    1 1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon
•    1⁄2 tsp. vanilla
•    1/3 cup mild oil, such as Canola
•    2/3 cup maple syrup
•    2 %. Apple juice concentrate, defrosted

What You’ll Do:

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

-Pour all ingredients except oil, maple syrup and vanilla into a rectangular metal cake pan.

-Stir with wooden spoon.

-In glass bowl, mix oil, maple syrup and apple juice. Add vanilla, and microwave mixture for about 90 seconds, until hot but not bubbly.

-Carefully pour liquid over oats so it is spread evenly. Stir well with wooden spoon so liquid is mixed evenly with oats.

-Bake 20 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Stir mixture well, scraping bottom of pan. Bake 10 more minutes; remove and stir again. If granola is a toasty brown color, it’s done. If not, bake 5 more minutes or so. Be careful to not let it burn.

-Let cool on top of stove. It’ll get crunchier as it cools. When completely cooled, store in plastic container.
