They arent that bad after you start using them. If you are like me the thought of putting something up there on a regular basis and having to do that for a week every month can seem like to much but if you struggle with pads tampons are a great thing.

My suggestions when using tampons are,

1. Use the right size, we are all different down there so dont start with the wide ones, start with the small.
2. Use a lubricant like K-Y jelly or Astroglide lube to help them go in easier. They dont hurt but they do feel different because we normally dont have things in there.
3. Dont leave them in too long and change them regularly.

And then just realize that there is no way around dealing with our periods because its just what happens.

I use them, and yea when i first started using them i was scared also. Their perfectly fine, pick ur right absorbency. Like if ur heavy, choose a super, or if ur really heavy, choose a super plus. And i can barely tell their there.

They dont hurt if you start out with the smaller ones and then you can move into using the bigger ones if you want.

And use lubricant if you want, I know it sounds weird at first but that is even what the tampon makers say. A little lubricant like KY or Astroglide will help them slide in easier.

Pads! I don't use tampons yet, b/c I dont need them unless I go swimming, so Im gonna wait till summer pads are comfortable for me.

Always, ultra thin, w/ wings. (I like thin b/c you cant really tell that the pad is there, but i dont like them b/c u have to change often.)

6)Any comments or stories about your period or the suplies? I got my period at school and dont worry if that happens... just ask a friend who's had it or the nurse for help. I asked my bff and it was totally fine. always keep like two pads in your purse and/ or locker in case of an accident. and if you wear pantyliner, they're good for accidents toooo!
PS- dont freak if your period is weird at first, cuz my first two were like 4 months apart, but I think that mine will get regular soon. lol im actually on my second one now. i got it in a bathroom at a restaurant yesterday and was totally caught off guard cuz i had totally forgotten i had my period!
so ya just be cool, dont freak, and its totally natural for anything to happen with periods.
PSS- sorry, i cant give any tips about cramps, cuz i dont really get them... lucky me!! sorry for those who get them bad tho. my sis and bff do.

60a VERY intresting story bout me and my . is that my 7 month yonger cousin started only 7 hrs. after i did(i started in morning b4 school/overnight and she stayed home-she had a sore throght-and started within 7 hrs. after i woke up!!)and the next month my second . came and it thankfuly only came 1 day after the first time(date.. 1st was dec. 9 second was jan. 10)and my families girls are very luky cause all of us have started at home and not in public!!! that was reasurring when i knew i would get myan soon!but got to go!!peace!!

Most girls use pads when they get their first period because as it is there is so much to get used to. However if you know how to put in a tampon then I would start with thoughs so you know how to from the start. Btw they do not hurt if they are in right.

Advice to chocolate595!!
it may seem weird at first to talk to your mom about getting your period but just do it. she will totally understand because she went through the same thing with her mom. so just come out and say it. after a while it will seem like a totally normal thing to talk about. and it's completley normal to be nervous about getting your period. i mean what if it happens at school! yikes! but if u feel like you are getting close to that time (cramps, cravings..ect.) just bring some pads or tampons with you to school so when it does happen you can be covered and no one will even know.
