Happy Hanukkah!

Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, I made you out of Clay!

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, is right around the corner! More than twenty-one centuries ago, the Jews reclaimed their Holy Temple from the Greeks, and lit a candle using only a small batch of oil that was expected to last for one day. But they were in for a surprise! The candle stayed lit for eight days straight, which is why this holiday is celebrated for eight days too.

During Hanukkah gifts are exchanged each day in addition to sacred blessings and the lighting of another candle on a family's menorah. Fried foods, like yummy potato pancakes, called latkes, are eaten to celebrate the significance of the oil. Kids love to sing, listen to songs and play dreidel games.

What's your favorite part about Hanukkah? Tell us in the comments!
